Six Sentence Sunday - How to Rescue a Pirate - Why the Rescue

Welcome back, Sixers! Thank you for reading and commenting on my WIP snippet. It makes my whole weekend when you comment and it's great to see returning names. Several other authors participate in Six Sentence Sunday and a few of my favorites are Cara Michaels, Jayel Kaye, JoAnn Ross, and Lynne Murray. Be sure to check near the end of the list because Karysa Faire, Goran Zidar, and Nellie Batz are good reads, too.

In this snippet of How to Rescue a Pirate, Samantha Abbott has woken from her faint after Captain Blackheart gave her a concussion from throwing her against the wall. He recognizes her and wants to know why she's there.

“Why would ye think I needed rescuing?” He poured her a mug of water from the pitcher she’d found the night before and handed it to her.
Now it was her turn to snort. “I find you drunk off your ass in a run-down tavern, a wanted man with no one covering your back. Let me think.”
Instead of grimacing, he gave her a little half-smile that was both sad and sexy.

She's got him dead-to-rights. Definitely in need of rescuing. Next week, Six Sentence Sunday is taking a break for the Holiday so the official site won't be posting. But I'll have six Holiday sentences up for you to enjoy so please stop by. If I don't see you, I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! :)

  1. Hmm, 'a little half-smile that was both sad and sexy'? Sounds like Blackheart might not have anyone watching his back on purpose. Or he doesn't have anyone *left* to watch his back.

    Great 6!

  6. A mug of water isn't going to make up for him throwing her against the wall. Can't wait to see what she does next.

  9. He's got some work to do to make up for that, but I love when heroes and heroines have to save each other! True teamwork. And I've always loved me some pirate.

  11. I love these characters, Siobhan! I love the bantering, her unladylikeness, his rough ways--they're so human already to me. And I loooooved the small and sexy/sad smile at the end. I know a guy that does that. :D

  19. Awww, so cute. His vulnerability makes him more attractive. She's got to be very tough to survive in the pirate world, but there's some motivation.

Karysa Faire reminded me of my manners, I also thank you for the shout out!

Re posting anyway next Sunday, holiday or no, this stuff sure is addictive!
