Mid Week Tease - Hunting for Solace

Welcome to the Weird, the Wild, & the Wicked for this week's Mid Week Tease hosted by Sandra Bunino.

Authors: this is a great opportunity to spotlight a few lines or even a paragraph or two from a new release or backlisted title. Readers: you get to sample some delicious snippets! We’ll do our best to tease, titillate and tantalize you into the weekend.

My Mid Week Tease is from Not a Dragon's Standard Virgin. Jonarrion is a demonhunter, but isn't adverse to a little recreation on his travels. He just has one rule. No virgins. :)

Jonarrion Swiftwind took a deep breath of the early spring wind and caught the rancidness of a demon’s decay, just as he’d suspected. The stories coming out of this part of the human country of Scotland had suggested demon activity, but the scent on the wind confirmed it. He narrowed his eyes and grimaced a silent snarl as he resumed his walking pace down the road toward the little village of Lochmore Cott.
Bloody bastard is here, all right. I’ll have to permanently relocate him.
Feral excitement shot through his veins. He looked forward to the fight. Trudging through the frozen lands of the Scottish clans had never been his favorite activity. Daft Scots are crazy to live where it’s so damn cold. The Irish are far more sensible.
Jonarrion reached the bend in the road leading away from the Loch and slowed, scenting something sweet on the wind. He raised his gaze to a hillock above the Loch and scanned the trees, searching for the beguiling scent. When he saw the lass, he stumbled to a stop, transfixed.
She was lovely and ethereal, like the Fae, though she had an earthiness grounding her. Deep auburn hair escaped the tight hold of the shawl wrapped around her head, and pale skin glowed gently in the fitful light of the moon. She stood taller than most lassies he’d seen, and generous curves filled out her clothes.
That lass would pleasure any male, and carry his progeny without trouble. Jonarrion’s cock responded by hardening to the thought of sliding into her heat. He could picture her glossy auburn hair draping across the bedding while he pounded into her.
A panicked warning screamed through his mind, and his blood froze despite the girl’s beauty in the moonlight. His cockstand shriveled like a kick in the balls. It’d been fifty years since he’d last slept with an unbedded human female, with disastrous results.
Aye, now your sister-by-law is dead, your brother is a widower, and you roam the world, killing demons and seeking forgiveness. How is that working for you? He never stayed anywhere too long, and no matter how much he wished for a family of his own, he couldn’t allow himself such pleasure when he’d destroyed his brother’s happiness.

Snippet Sunday - Not a Dragon's Standard Virgin - Talk Dirty to Me

Welcome to the Snippet Sunday on the Weird, the Wild, and the Wicked. Thank you so much for visiting. If you choose to comment today, I really appreciate it. Currently, the snippets are from my latest release, and while they aren't consecutive, they are in order within the story. You can read last week's snippet HERE.

Today, I'm offering the last snippet from my latest release available now on Amazon entitled Not a Dragon's Standard Virgin. Next week I'll have something new to tempt you with, so enjoy this last little bit. ;) In this snippet, which is a little longer because it's the last, Jonarrion has agreed to Isabelle's request and she's learning him for the first time. This is from Jon's POV and he's the first to speak.

“Come, sit between my legs and let me help you relax.”
“Between your… Isn’t that where your—” She gestured at his tenting kilt and blushed.
“My what, Isabelle?”
“You know.” The red spilled down her throat and flushed her bosom. He wondered if it carried on straight to her pussy. “Your manly bits.”
He wanted to laugh at her choice of words, but he didn’t wish to anger her. “There are many names associated with my ‘manly bits,’ but it’s most commonly called a ‘cock,’ and yes, that’s where I carry it.”
“Cock.” She repeated the word in her husky voice, and his said anatomy flexed with her attention. “Does it have a mind of its own, then?”
“What?” Where had she learned such things as a virgin?
“Well, it just moved.” She gestured at his groin, and he resisted the urge to cover it with his hand.
He let out a startled laugh. “Actually, my dear, it often responds when called by name, and you said it so well.”

Anyone else hear Poison singing "Talk dirty to me"? ;) There are several great authors on the Weekend Writing Warrior list and in the Snippet Sunday Facebook group. A few of my favorites are Anastasia Vitsky, SJ Maylee, Goran Zidar, Gem Sivad, and A.S. Fenichel.

If you're interested in Not a Dragon's Standard Virgin, here is the cover and blurb:

Sacrificial virgins are so sixteenth century, but unless Isabelle finds a man to take her innocence, she’ll likely be next.

For Isabelle Andersen, being a virgin in a dragon-plagued Scottish village is dangerous. Potentially the next dragon sacrifice, Isabelle’s only solution is to lose her innocence, and fast. All she needs is one handsome stranger she can coax into bed, but Lochmore Cott doesn’t get much in the way of visitors.

Jonarrion Swiftwind has sworn off virgins. The last time he took one to his bed, his family paid the price for his lust at the hands of her demon-possessed father. He’s made it his mission to destroy all demons. Nothing distracts him from killing this demon until lovely Isabelle offers him tea. And her virginity.

Just one night of passion makes Jon realize he doesn’t want to let the independent beauty go. But will Isabelle accept him when she discovers the only real dragon in her village… is him?

Snippet Sunday - Not a Dragon's Standard Virgin - The Bottom Line

Welcome to the Snippet Sunday on the Weird, the Wild, and the Wicked. Thank you so much for visiting. If you choose to comment today, I really appreciate it. Currently, the snippets are from my latest release, and while they aren't consecutive, they are in order within the story. You can read last week's snippet HERE.

Today, I'm offering a snippet from my latest release available now on Amazon entitled Not a Dragon's Standard Virgin. In this snippet, which is a little longer than usual, Isabelle has just begged for Jonarrion's help with relieving her of her virginity. He's alternately thrilled and horrified (he's avoiding virgins). This is from Jon's POV.

“What will happen to you when it’s discovered you have lost your virginity?” The eager, horny side of himself wailed in despair.
“Och, nothing.” Isabelle’s lips curled in derisive grimace. “They’ll treat me no different than they do now. No one wants my hand; it won’t be different once I am a taken woman.” Then she looked up at him with her beguiling blue-green eyes. “Please, Master Swift, I beg you. Save me from the dragon and take my virginity; I promise I won’t ask more of you after. Just do this so I may live; mayhap not peacefully, but at least I’ll live.”
Jonarrion wanted to refuse her request on two counts. One, he doubted the village would be so understanding of a woman willfully losing her virginity for any reason. And two, he was a dragon. He couldn’t save her from one.

Talk about being offered everything you can't have. Could you resist temptation? ;) There are several great authors on the Weekend Writing Warrior list and in the Snippet Sunday Facebook group. A few of my favorites are Sarah Ballance, SJ Maylee, Goran Zidar, Gem Sivad, and A.S. Fenichel.

Snippet Sunday - Not a Dragon's Standard Virgin - Beauty in the Beast

Welcome to the Snippet Sunday! Thank you so much for visiting. If you choose to comment today, I really appreciate it. Currently, the snippets are from my latest release, and while they aren't consecutive, they are in order within the story. You can read last week's snippet HERE.

Today, I'm offering a snippet from my new release available NOW entitled Not a Dragon's Standard Virgin. Woohoo! I'm so excited to share it with you. In this snippet, Isabelle Andersen has made her decision to lose her virginity. Now she just needs a handsome man to do it (because why would she pick an ugly lug to do the job if she gets to choose?) Fortunately, one just happens to stop by her father's tavern that night. This is Isabelle's first view of Jonarrion Swiftwind.

Glory be, I have never seen such a beautiful man.
He stood tall, even taller than Angus MacLeod, the blacksmith’s son who stood at exactly six feet. Dark-brown hair hung, braided at his temples, with the rest pulled back to the base of his neck with a leather thong. Brilliant blue eyes the color of lupine flowers looked out beneath dark, arching brows and long lashes. His neatly trimmed beard framed a generous mouth beneath a slightly flattened nose that looked as if it had been damaged in a fight and healed incorrectly.
Isabelle trembled with his intangible power, reveling in the sight of his masculine beauty. His rugged features made him look mysterious and dangerous, sending a feminine pulse straight to her womb. If ever a man existed to whom her virginity should be given, this was him.
Oh, aye, and now all you have to do is ask him.

What would you do to escape someone's planned fate for you? ;) There are several great authors on the Weekend Writing Warrior list and in the Snippet Sunday Facebook group. A few of my favorites are Sarah Ballance, SJ Maylee, Goran Zidar, Karla Doyle, and A.S. Fenichel.

Snippet Sunday - Not a Dragon's Standard Virgin - True Dilemma

Welcome to the Snippet Sunday! Thank you so much for visiting. I'm sorry I didn't get to your blogs last week. I had a really sick kid and spent the week helping her keep food down. :( If you choose to comment today, I really appreciate it. Most of these snippets are unedited, works in progress, and while my snippets aren't consecutive, they are in order within the story. You can read last week's snippet HERE.

Today, I'm offering a snippet from my new release out in TWO DAYS entitled Not a Dragon's Standard Virgin. Woohoo! I'm so excited to get this one out to all of you. In this snippet, Isabelle Andersen is worried she'll be the next dragon sacrifice, but she's never just stood by and let others decide her fate, even in 1547 Scotland.

Isabelle had no intention of dying for the village, especially now with her mother gone. She may not have agreed to how women should behave, but she certainly didn’t want to die for her opinion. Sometimes she hated her village, but it was home and what she knew best. Her sister remained at the tavern while she waited for Thomas to gather his bride price, and Isabelle loved her. Sarah was the only one in the family besides their mother who’d accepted Isabelle for herself.
So, if I don’t wish to die in the Virgin Sacrifice, I shall have to lose my virginity.
Isabelle looked out onto the Loch and sent a prayer out to her mother in the wind.
“Forgive me, Mama. I know you wanted me to be a good girl, but I just can’t let myself die for a village that scorns me. I would rather be a ruined woman alive than a good virgin girl dead.”

What would you do to escape someone's planned fate for you? ;) There are several great authors on the Weekend Writing Warrior list and in the Snippet Sunday Facebook group. A few of my favorites are Sarah Ballance, Charmaine Gordon, Goran Zidar, Karla Doyle, and A.S. Fenichel.

Six Sentence Sunday - Not a Dragon's Standard Virgin - Just a Little Favor

Welcome back, Sixers! And thank you to everyone who does come back. It really makes my day when you comment! I hope you're enjoying Not a Dragon's Standard Virgin and when you're done here, please visit the other blogs where authors have posted their six sentence snippets!

In this snippet, Isabelle has gotten up the courage, after talking to her friend Marie, to approach and ask Jonarrion for exactly what she wants. This is from Jon's perspective.

“Och! ’Tis nothing,” she scoffed with a wave of her hand. “Besides, I wished to ask if I might beg a favor from ye.”
“A favor?” A mixture of wariness and elation cascaded through him. “What kind of favor, love?”
“Weel . . .” Her voice trailed off as she blushed a very becoming rose color from her auburn hairline down to the tops of her perfect breasts. She seemed to struggle for a few moments, but eventually looked up boldly into his eyes and said, “I want ye to take me virginity.”

Woo-hoo! Every guy's dream come true, eh? Thanks again for joining me and happy reading! :)

Six Sentence Sunday - Not a Dragon's Standard Virgin "Hero Worship"

Welcome back to Six Sentence Sunday, the fun and exciting trips into my world of the paranormal. Thank you so much to everyone who returns each week and comments! It means a lot to me and I really enjoy sharing with all of you. I hope your week has gone well and you will take a moment to visit the other authors who participate in Six Sentence Sunday!

Today, I'm introducing Jonarrion Swiftwind and what he thinks of Isabelle after she has promised to draw him a bath. He doesn't know she's decided to gift him with her virginity in order to save herself from the Virgin Sacrifice, but he's very happy knowing she will return to his room to tell him when the bath is ready.

Jonarrion tried to think of walking along a muddy spring road or mucking out stalls of draft horses to get his cockstand to drop, but his mind refused to cooperate. Instead, he kept getting flashes of Isabelle’s lips stretched around the girth of his cock or what it’d be like to have her ride him while her full tits bounced on her chest above him; his body responded by getting harder than ever. Damn, his kilt was tenting!
He groaned and decided he’d have to do push-ups or maybe even stab himself with his dirk to get his body back into line. It’d been a long time since a female Human had tempted him so, but something about Mistress Isabelle Andersen made him stand up and take notice. She had generous curves that enticed his hands to fondle and auburn hair that would tickle his thighs when she suckled him.

Isabelle has done good with her choice, eh? Have a great week and happy reading!

Six Sentence Sunday - Not a Dragon's Standard Virgin "The Problem"

Welcome back, Sixers! I hope you're having a good holiday weekend. While you're snooping around the new snippet of story, please read the previous post on Nara Malone's interview. There's an opportunity to win a free ebook and a NookColor, as well as other prizes. Take a look.

This month I'm offering six sentences from Not A Dragon's Standard Virgin, a story about a young woman who lives in a village plagued by a "dragon". They've set up the whole Virgin Sacrifice tradition, but it hasn't been working all that well, so the village Elders are looking for the next virgin. Isabelle Anderson appears to be the next girl on the list because she just won't bow to anyone else's will or hand. She also isn't willing to wait for fate to get her.

So, if she didn’t want to die at the hands of the village Elders in the Virgin Sacrifice, she’d have to make certain she was no longer a virgin. Of course, that presented a whole new set of problems. Instead of just being a strange and intractable virgin daughter of the tavern keeper, she’d be a strange, intractable hussy.
Isabelle snorted. From one curse to the next; there was no winning. Either she was Dragon-bait or she was a whore.

I hope that intrigues you. Don't forget to check out the other authors who participate in Six Sentence Sunday and the interview below. Thank you so much to all who comment and return each week! Happy reading! :)
