Six Sentence Sunday - The Bone Flute - Hungarian Barbarian

Happy Six Sentence Sunday! Thank you so much for visiting and taking the time to read this week's snippet. I really appreciate your time and the comments you leave for me. While my sixes aren't always right after each other, they are in chronological order. If you'd like to read last week's SSS post, it's here.

Today I'm offering another snippet from The Bone Flute, a paranormal romantic suspense. Rain's sexy intruder tried to explain he'd been cursed, but she didn't believe him and told him to leave again. He didn't take the rejection well.

“By all the saints!” He vaulted over her island and pinned her to the counter with his weight as he ripped the knife from her hand. “I can’t leave your house until you release me from the curse your relative laid on me!”
The force of his fury broke through her courage and she blinked as tears leaked out the corners to slide down the sides of her face. In his rage, he could kill her without much effort, and all anyone would find would be her body.
Gathering what little courage she had left, she took a deep breath and raised her gaze to his.
“Please don’t hurt me.”

He better start earning points fast if he wants her help. ;) There are several great authors on the Six Sentence Sunday list and a few of my favorites are Karla DoyleSarah BallanceSilver JamesLaura Kaye, Cara Michaels, and Goran Zidar. Thank you for stopping by and happy reading! :)

  1. I like how you describe the effect his anger has on her. It's like you already know these words before you write them down. And the last line is a nice touch. Good work!

  2. You've caught a terrifying and intense moment. Seeing someone vault over an island would leave me senseless, so to then have my only protect ripped away and them have it now? Scary. But a great read. Her tears really send home the terror and make the moment real. Excellent, Siobhan.
