Today I'm offering another snippet from The Bone Flute, a paranormal romantic suspense. Rain met Jozsef at her office and sent him packing, thinking he was just an odd duck. A sexy odd duck, but still strange. She figured he wouldn't be back. Oops.
Sighing at the
memory, Rain shook her head and rubbed her hard nipples with one hand as she
closed the refrigerator door.
Then she
shrieked, jumping backwards until she landed against the counter with her knife
block. She grabbed the first knife she could and held it out against the figure
of a tall, broad shouldered man standing just beyond the island.
He snorted at
her choice of weapon and she realized she held a paring knife, but she’d make
do if he thought he’d take her easy.
“Who the hell
are you and what the fuck are you doing in my house?” she spat at him, her
heart galloping wildly.
He stood silently, his legs braced apart and his arms folded over his chest, and just looked at
her with the same chocolate brown eyes she’d been imagining.Talk about a heart-stopping visitor, and not necessarily in a good way. ;) There are several great authors on the Six Sentence Sunday list and a few of my favorites are Karla Doyle, Sarah Ballance, Silver James, Laura Kaye, and Goran Zidar. Thank you for stopping by and happy reading! :)
I wanna know what happens next!
ReplyDeleteHa! The paring knife is perfect!
ReplyDeleteBetter than a butter knife! LOL I can tell Jozsef is going to be a favorite. ;) Good stuff, Siobhan.
ReplyDeleteYou could do some damage with a paring knife if you know how to use it. Look at how careful the TSA is with box cutters! (Though I think they're carrying it too far with nail clippers.)
ReplyDeleteGreat description of her internal thoughts, action and reaction!
ReplyDeleteGreat six! So she's summoned him somehow? Hmmm...
ReplyDeleteWell, that would definitely frighten me, too. Great six! :)
ReplyDeleteYikes, my heart would be galloping too, and I'd probably swap knives. I must have a filthy mind because The Bone Flute made me snicker in a lascivious way.
ReplyDeleteOooh, I like those six!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite bit about this is that she's ready to take care of herself. Yet another excellent six! Well done!
ReplyDeleteShe's definitely a strong, independent character. Great six!
ReplyDeleteGreat six! Definitely need to know what happens next!!!
ReplyDeleteMy heart galloped right alongside hers. Yikes!
