Six Sentence Sunday - The Bone Flute - Reality Check

Happy Six Sentence Sunday and very happy holidays to you all! I'm celebrating my brother's wedding this weekend, so I won't be able to get to your sixes until later, but I will when I get home. :) Thank you so much for visiting and taking the time to read this week's snippet during the busy holiday season. I really appreciate your time and the comments you leave for me. While my sixes aren't always right after each other, they are in chronological order. If you'd like to read last week's SSS post, it's here.

Today I'm offering another snippet from The Bone Flute, a paranormal romantic suspense. Jozsef has backed away, but when he told Rain he's a ghost, she doesn't believe him. She throws things at him to prove it. Unfortunately, he wins this round. This is in Jozsef's POV.

It took Rain several seconds to realize none of the objects hit him. When her awareness understood, her fury melted into breathless confusion, and fear entered her gaze once more.
“You were solid. How can you be a ghost? Ghosts aren’t solid or real!”
“Oh, I assure you, my lady, ghosts are real.”

He thinks he's so smart, but he doesn't expect what she does next. See you next week, lol! ;) There are several great authors on the Six Sentence Sunday list and a few of my favorites are Karla DoyleSarah BallanceSilver JamesLaura Kaye, Cara Michaels, and Goran Zidar. Thank you for stopping by and happy reading! :)

Thursday Thanks - 2012

Welcome back to the Weird, the Wild, & the Wicked! Today we usually do #ThursThreads, but since I'm official visiting family this week, I didn't want to let you all down by not being present for my own challenge. So instead of the usual post where you write as story for a judge, I thought I'd give my thanks for the many writers who have touched my world this year, and especially those who come back week after week to tie on a tale.

I've listed them below (and while I can't mention all of you, know you're in my heart), and if you don't know them, check them out by clicking on the links on their names. These people have encouraged me, befriended me when I was just another name on Facebook, and promoted me for no other reason than their generosity. Some have been participants of #ThursThreads, others only judges, but all of them have made my year in one way or another.

Cara Michaels has seen it all, blogging, editing, writing, rewriting, de-wasifying ;) and even website reconfiguration. But most of all, she has helped me when I asked for it, edited me without pity :D, and helped me write better stories. She has also judged #ThursThreads and won a few (six) times. :D Thanks, Cara, for everything.

Three gentlemen who have made my #flashfiction career so fun and rewarding are Jeffrey Hollar, J. Whitworth Hazzard, and Wakefield Mahon. Not only have they routinely come to #ThursThreads to write some #flashfiction, but they also have shouted my name into the Twitterverse and made me laugh, but they've also cheered me on when things looked bleak from this end. I suspect they have no idea when they've done so, but just know I'm grateful, gentlemen. Thanks so much! :)

To my long lost Canadian cousin Kris Norris, honey, without you, AADNOLA would have been downright staid and proper. You lit up my trip and made me laugh so hard I could barely take a breath. May your holidays be warm, your company warmer ;) and remember, you can't outrun a bear in snowshoes, but you can outfly them in a helicopter. I'll go with you! :D

There are three ladies who have enticed me with their stories, encouraged me when I swore I'd throw in the towel, and chatted with me online a few times. Two have joined me on Six Sentence Sunday (which is where I found their books and had to go read them!) and the third shared time on Second Life with me. Gem Sivad, I'm still waiting for River's Edge! :D Karla Doyle, how about a game of Scrabble? I'm sure you'd kick my butt at it. ;) And Nara Malone, thank you so much for all your help with negotiating an avatar in a mall. Who knew it could be so difficult to get dressed? :D

One last author I want to thank is Goran Zidar. He has judged #ThursThreads and participated in Six Sentence Sunday by writing a serial story six sentences at a time. If you get a chance to see his tale stop by his blog on Sunday and catch up on the story. But most of all, he has been so encouraging and fun to talk to (even if he's halfway across the world in Australia.

I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season and may your New Year be filled with joy, good friends, and great adventures. Happy New Year and happy reading! :)

Six Sentence Sunday - The Bone Flute - Hard Target

Happy Six Sentence Sunday and very happy holidays to you all! Thank you so much for visiting and taking the time to read this week's snippet during the busy holiday season. I really appreciate your time and the comments you leave for me. While my sixes aren't always right after each other, they are in chronological order. If you'd like to read last week's SSS post, it's here.

Today I'm offering another snippet from The Bone Flute, a paranormal romantic suspense. Jozsef is used to being a ghost, but he's not used to having any power over the living. In fact, he's never been able to touch anyone before.

Unfortunately, now that he had her pressed against the cupboards behind her, the glorious scent of her hair and the softness of her breasts fueled his cockstand between them and she gasped, freezing as if he'd stabbed her.
Stabbing her with that sword is a fine idea!
And how are you going to do that, jackass? You’re a ghost and she’s a flesh and blood woman of the family you wronged. You can’t even touch her.
Except he was touching her and his cock throbbed with her heat pressed against its hard length.

Sounds like there's a little more magic at play here than he thought. ;) There are several great authors on the Six Sentence Sunday list and a few of my favorites are Karla DoyleSarah BallanceSilver JamesLaura Kaye, Cara Michaels, and Goran Zidar. Thank you for stopping by and happy reading! :)

I can see imagination and talent in each and every entry.

Winners Announcement:

  David A Ludwig | @DavidALudwig
Silver says: David, I enjoy a good fantasy/paranormal tale and you managed to set both mood and characters in these short words.

Sean Adams | @SE_ADAMS_
Silver says: Sean, interesting take on a post-apocalyptic world. I liked the way your spoken language sort of "devolved" to help set the scene.

Kel Heinen | @Aightball
Silver says: Kelly, I enjoyed the direction you took the prompt. Teenagers. Gotta love 'em because it's that or kill 'em, right? Your writing is clean and sharp.

Jeffrey Hollar | @klingorengi
Silver says: Jeffrey, I hope you are writing psychological suspense. That was quite a twist at the end and the deep POV of your character is excellent work.

Week 51 Winner

Goran Zidar | @gzidar

Silver says: Goran, there is something simple and honest about your writing and your story. It stuck with me.

The Poem

People say I’m a good writer.

When I say people, I am talking about my parents, and when I say good I mean that they believe I’m better than them. Given that English isn’t their native language it’s probably not that glowing an endorsement, but hey… you need to take whatever compliments life gives you. Right?

So, what’s my skill (or lack thereof) of writing got to do with anything?

Well, I’m glad you asked.

There’s this girl you see. Isn’t there always?
Corrine. She makes my day seem bright whenever I’m around her, it’s as if the air is cleaner, colours are brighter, smells are sharper, and her voice is the most beautiful of music to my ears.

The thing is though, I’m pretty sure she doesn’t even know I exist.

This is how the writing thing fits it. I wrote her a poem, you see.

My heart and soul poured into eight verses of prose.
I plan to share one verse a day with her. So she can get to know me a little at a time, until I stand naked (metaphorically speaking of course) before her, vulnerable and exposed. She would have my very life in her hands.

The problem is I haven’t worked up the courage to start.

Maybe tomorrow I’ll give her one.

Congratulations Goran, David, Sean, Kelly, and Jeff! Claim your badges and display them with pride. You certainly earned it! :)

Pass on the great news on Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus, shiny mirrors, Morse Code, and signal flags. Check out all the stories here. No #ThursThreads next week due to the holidays. Thanks for stopping by and happy reading! :)

One Author, Two New Releases - Angelina Rain - 18+

Today I have the great good fortune to introduce Angelina Rain, author at Evernight Publishing, and her two new releases, Sucking Santa's Candy Cane and Flames of Desire. Angelina gives her own look at both her new short stories and they are hot. :)

Don't you hate stereotypes? I know I do. They are so annoying! This holiday season I decided to undo the stereotype surrounded around Santa Claus.

Yes, I know he's old, fat, jolly, works in a toy factory, and wears a red suit. But…. What if he were young, blonde, muscular, hunky, worked as a doctor in children’s hospital, and drove a red car? Isn't that mental image so much better? What if, we add peppermint and milk chocolate flavored 'candy cane' (for a lack of a better word)? Now we're talking, right? Want to know more about this alluring Santa?

Check out Sucking Santa's Candy Cane!

BLURB:

Noelle has always been a good girl, but when she meets a man named Santa Claus, her naughty side is unleashed. She indulges in her sexual desires with this handsome stranger with the very bizarre name. Santa Claus isn't real! Is he? Will Noelle learn to believe in magic and miracles while in the arms of her handsome lover?

EXCERPT:

“Let’s cut the crap, I want to eat your pussy.”
She glanced sharply at him. “Did you. . .” Surely, she just imagined it. This stranger wouldn’t dare say that to her.
            “What’s up?”
“Did you just say something to me?”
“What do you think I said?”
There was that knowing smile, and the tone of his voice suggested he was playing with her.
            “I. . . I’m just hearing things,” she answered.
            “Are you now?”
A car drove by on the expressway and Noelle chose to concentrate on that. Where was that damn tow truck? Did she really want it to arrive?
“What do you think you heard?”
She glanced down, embarrassed. “Nothing. It doesn’t matter.”
He climbed off the trunk and came to stand before her. Santa rested his hands on her thighs. Noelle’s heart thumped heavily inside her chest when the realization hit her. She had heard exactly what he said. He wanted to eat her pussy. She wanted him too. But. . . But she wasn’t Wendy. Wendy would have had him in every hole by now, but that just wasn’t her. Could she really let a stranger get this intimate with her?
Santa inhaled deeply and closed his eyes. “I can smell your arousal.” He opened his eyes and bent forward, kissed her knee. “I want you.”
“We’re strangers. We’re in public. Someone could see us.” Fuck me! Fuck me! Fuck me!
He put his finger to her lips. “Relax, no one will see us.” He moved the finger from her lips and rested his hand on her hips. The other hand started on her knee and slowly traveled up her thigh. “Uncross your legs,” he ordered.
Her knees shook as she obeyed. She wasn’t sure why she did it and why she let this stranger do what he was doing. Was it the thrill of possibly getting caught fucking a stranger? Or was it that she hadn’t felt pleasure in so long she would take it any way she could?
She spread her legs a few inches away from each other and breathed deeply. What was she doing? She was crazy.
“Relax,” he whispered. “Don’t be nervous.”
How could she not be? A complete stranger was feeling her up in public.
As Santa’s hand slid under her dress, Noelle’s heart pulsed inside her chest. The thump, thump, thump of it rang in her ears, drowning out all other sounds. Her pussy soaked with desire juices.
His fingertips grazed her cunt. He hooked a finger into her panties and groaned. “Your panties are soaking.”

BUY IT HERE:

What about Firemen? Have you ever fantasized about pleasuring a firefighter? That is a pretty common fantasy amongst women. It was my own version of the fantasy that turned into this short story about one single woman, a wicked night, an unfortunate house fire, and five hunky firemen coming to the rescue.

BLURB:

Ginelle Jinx, recently single, heartbroken, and unemployed, decides to cast an impotency spell on her cheating ex. She doesn't expect the spell to have consequences, but her house catches on fire.

Five hunky firemen come to Ginelle’s rescue, one of them being Seth Tompson, her high school sweetheart. With one fire out, she finds old flames and new ones mingling as she indulges the pleasures her five firemen have on offer.

But what will happen when she realizes she still loves Seth? Does he feel the same? Can an old flame become a raging inferno?

Be Warned: menage sex (FMMMMM), m/m sex, multiple partners, anal sex, orgies

EXCERPT:

She showered quickly, making sure not to use up all the hot water as she was certain he would need to shower too. But, she did stay under the spray for several minutes enjoying as the heat washed away the stress from the night.

Once she was done, she pulled the curtain away and grabbed the large bath towel Seth had supplied. She rubbed it over her long blonde hair, down her face, neck, chest, and back. It wasn't until she ran it over the back of her hand that pain shot through her as though her skin had been peeled off.

"Ouch! Fuck!" She screamed and hissed in pain, remembering that she burned her hand. The shocking events of the night had momentarily blocked the pain and now it throbbed as though making up for lost time.

A ruckus sounded outside the bathroom door and it opened quickly as Seth rushed in, worry etched into his eyes. "Are you okay?"

She stared at him. The pain quickly subsided as she took in the man before her. He had showered too and now only wore a pair of denim shorts. Seth had a perfectly muscled chest and she wanted to run her fingertips along the ridges and crevices of his spectacular body. No, she wanted more than just to touch it. She wanted to kiss it and lick it and taste every inch of this man. Her nipples hardened and her pussy pooled with warm juices.

Her breath caught in her throat as a moan of need and desire escaped her lips before she could contain it. She looked into Seth's eyes and saw the same lust that reflected her own.

He took two large steps toward her and his hands entangled in her wet hair. Seth tilted her head slightly and his lips crashed over hers. The need she felt within her, she also tasted in his mouth.

Six Sentence Sunday - The Bone Flute - Hungarian Barbarian

Happy Six Sentence Sunday! Thank you so much for visiting and taking the time to read this week's snippet. I really appreciate your time and the comments you leave for me. While my sixes aren't always right after each other, they are in chronological order. If you'd like to read last week's SSS post, it's here.

Today I'm offering another snippet from The Bone Flute, a paranormal romantic suspense. Rain's sexy intruder tried to explain he'd been cursed, but she didn't believe him and told him to leave again. He didn't take the rejection well.

“By all the saints!” He vaulted over her island and pinned her to the counter with his weight as he ripped the knife from her hand. “I can’t leave your house until you release me from the curse your relative laid on me!”
The force of his fury broke through her courage and she blinked as tears leaked out the corners to slide down the sides of her face. In his rage, he could kill her without much effort, and all anyone would find would be her body.
Gathering what little courage she had left, she took a deep breath and raised her gaze to his.
“Please don’t hurt me.”

He better start earning points fast if he wants her help. ;) There are several great authors on the Six Sentence Sunday list and a few of my favorites are Karla DoyleSarah BallanceSilver JamesLaura Kaye, Cara Michaels, and Goran Zidar. Thank you for stopping by and happy reading! :)

Saturday Souvenirs - Blog Hop Winner and Art

Happy Holidays to you all from the Weird, the Wild, & the Wicked. I haven't posted a Saturday Souvenirs for a few weeks because I've been desperately trying to edit an MS that has been recalcitrant (stubborn) and the Muse whines a lot about all the other stories I could be writing. lol Some authors say there is no such thing as 'the Muse', which is fine for them, but right now the motivation to edit has been at an all time low for me, so 'the Muse' ain't talking much. :P

But I do have some good news. I have to announce the winner of the Siobhan Muir tote bag full of swag for the Evernight Holiday Blog Hop. Are you ready? Don't hold your breath now...

Donna Newman

Congratulations, Dawna! Everyone else, don't worry. There's more to come. I've sent the list of you to Evernight so they can add you to the drawing for the iPad2, so stay tuned for that one. :D

Okay, on the Saturday Souvenirs. To make me happier (and the Muse as well, lol), I'm posting some of my favorite artwork, whether photos, book covers, or original art pieces by friends and family. Hopefully that will jar my motivation back to editing. :P

I love the Steampunk aspect to this mechanical eye. It would make a great story, don't you think?

Ah yes, the dragon tattoos. I'm a huge fan of ink, but dragon ink is the best. :D

Special kisses always get my attention, but these two really struck me. ;) The artwork here makes me sigh from the sensuality of it.

I love line drawings, but the watercolor above is from my oldest daughter, her choice of colors grabbed my heart from the beginning. Do you see the rattlesnake? :)

I like the two covers above, not only because you can find my name associated with them, but also the images and colors the cover artist used. Plus, you can get Naughty Nibbles for FREE at Evernight Publishing! :D

This image showed up in my feed yesterday and I was struck immediately by the action, intensity, and power of it. Damn, that guy is coming for you! It made my heart flutter and wanted a copy of it, preferably signed by both the author and the artist. It's a frelling awesome image!

So hopefully I'm now inspired to go back through that story and fix it so it's worth reading. :P Thanks for stopping by. One last question: When you have something to do and no motivation to do it, what inspires you?

#ThursThreads - Week 50 - Winners

Week 50 of #ThursThreads had some great tales! Thanks to all who entered this week. I'm honored to see all of you and read your stories. It was great to have our returning regulars and some new faces. Thank you for coming back again and again to write. And great thanks go to Cara Michaels for reading the stories. :)

  • Susan Hayes | @capricia13

  • David A Ludwig | @DavidALudwig
  • Ruth Long | @Bullishink

Winners Announcement:

Honorable Mentions

  Mark Ethridge | @LurchMunster
Cara says: What a creepy little story! You built the tension with the axe and the plotting trio, and I kept waiting for the whammy reveal. I’d love to see this developed with more about Abraham, Moses, and Kevin. Are A & M ghosts? Demons? Nasty imaginary friends? Tell me more!

Ruth Long | @Bullishink
Cara says: I didn’t get the zombie impression so much, but I could see it being there if this was fleshed out a bit. More important to me though, were the character relationships. Love the overprotective brother and the sister who secretly wants to leave. I hope she ‘mans up’ and tells him.

Week 50 Winner

Sean Adams | @SE_ADAMS_

Cara says: Without a doubt, this tale set the bar for me. The story needs no more than the 250 words to build a world and relationship filled with reluctant hope and fear of loss. The descriptions give a great sense of the loneliness the character faces in a wrecked world. The glimmer of hope and comfort represented by the dog  turns into a gut punch with the closing lines. “For some reason it feels like it would be harder to lose her if she had a name.” So sad and so true. Excellent work.

The nights are darker and longer now. The smoke and ashes block the moon and I can’t remember the last time I saw the twinkling light of a star. This journal continues to keep me sane and alive but my new friend helps as well.

I found her laying virtually lifeless under the wreckage of a school bus downtown, starving and eaten alive by fleas and ticks. She looked up at me, without moving, and whimpered. The mangiest mutt I had ever seen but the only living being around for miles as far as I knew.

We stayed under the bus for a week as I fed her canned meat from my own small rations until she could lift her head and eventually stand on her own shaky legs. I bathed her as best I could with the soot filled water from a puddle nearby. Trying in vain to give both of us some respectability but we both smell terrible. It’s ok though.

“You don’t hear us whining!” I yell out while rubbing her wet sides as she feebly tries to wag her singed tail.

She never leaves my side and I speak to her as if she can understand exactly what I am saying. I’m pretty convinced she can, at least on some level. I’ve been hesitating to give her name though.

For some reason it feels like it would be harder to lose her if she had a name.

Maybe tomorrow I’ll give her one. A good one.

Congratulations Sean, Mark, and Ruth! Claim your badges and display them with pride. You certainly earned it! :)

Pass on the great news on Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus, shiny mirrors, Morse Code, and signal flags. Check out all the stories here. Thanks for stopping by and happy reading! :)

The title of this story is The Order of the Dragon and Drake MacGregor is a vampire who hasn't fed in a few days and has been lusting over Dr. Aliandra Cantora del Viento, a lovely Peruvian woman who has a little secret of her own. He's fallen and broken his leg. He's not healing fast because he hasn't fed.

Silence encompassed the car ride to the clinic. Drake kept his eyes focused on the holiday décor festooning the street lights and traffic lights of Three Lakes, hoping it would cool his thoughts toward the woman beside him. Her scent had changed a little with her irritation and sulfur edged out the spicy chocolate.
Good. Better for her to be angry with me than to encourage my lustful urges.
Dr. Cantora parked in front of the clinic and got out without a word. He heard her open the trunk as he scanned the dark building. Green garlands wound around the silver handrails for the front steps and the side entry ramp, little red berries gleaming in the old fashioned walkway lamps. Drake jumped when the doctor jerked open the car door and he swore the little flakes of snow vaporized into steam when they hit her rigid shoulders. The scent of sulfur intensified and he hesitated.
“Do you need help to get out, Mr. MacGregor?”
“Oh, uh, no, thank you.”
He swung his feet out, but only put weight on his good one as he used the car frame for balance to maneuver into the chair she held. He almost lost his balance when dizziness assailed him, making him sway dangerously toward the sensually exotic doctor.
“Easy,” she whispered as she caught his elbow in a steady grip. “Let’s get you into the clinic. I think you’re going into shock.”
Drake nodded and closed his eyes when he settled into the chair. He heard her slam the car door shut and felt the movement of the chair up the ramp, but he focused his attention on curbing the hunger raging against his willpower. If he wasn’t careful, he’d attack the poor doctor and have to make reparations, not to mention the memory wipe. Pain and hunger surged and he clamped his hands over the armrests of the wheelchair to keep from grabbing Dr. Cantora as she passed to unlock the doors.
“Hang in there for me, Mr. MacGregor. Just a few more steps to get inside.”
He opened his eyes to find the doctor’s beautiful face damn near nose to nose with him and her scent flooded his awareness. A punch of lust overwhelmed his good sense and he rocked forward with the intent to kiss her delectable lips before he could stop himself.
Dr. Cantora’s eyes narrowed and her mouth flattened into a hard line just before she pulled back out of reach.
“Don’t you think you’ve had enough amorous embraces for one night, Mr. MacGregor?” she growled at him as she rose. “Given your state of shock, I can understand your unsteadiness, but I thought a man of your age would have better control over himself.”
Her rejection left him reeling in chagrin and relief as she threw the doors open and shoved him through. The heat of the building hit him like a wall, but he still felt cold inside. Hunger railed at him, screaming for him to leap out of this chair and tackle the doctor, consequences be damned. Drake gritted his teeth and fought his inner beast down.
The clinic was dark and warm, but still smelled like antiseptic with the underlying taint of sickness. He hated clinics, their scents and ambiance always grating on his peace of mind, but tonight his usual distaste faded before the scent and heat of the doctor, and his sense of their solitude in the empty building. They were alone, all the other medical staff home safe in the face of the oncoming weather, and he was so hungry.
Dr. Cantora wheeled him into the X-ray room and turned one light in the corner.
“It’ll take a moment to warm up. Please remove your pants so we can take an accurate X-ray to see the damage.”
Drake gaped. “You want me to take off my pants?”
He’d never be able to hide his erection then.
“Yes.”
She strode out of the room and he cursed under his breath. This day couldn’t get any worse, unless he jumped Dr. Cantora and fucked her while he fed.
His inner beast cheered at that idea.
Drake levered himself up to his one foot using the bench bed to keep him stable then balanced while he fiddled with his fly. His cock throbbed with arousal from the doctor’s lingering scent and each brush of his fingers against the aching length eroded his grip on his inner beast.
He lost his balance as his hands began to shake from lack of fuel and he swore, fumbling with his zipper as he toppled against the bench. He released his pants to catch himself and they slid off his hips to tangle his ankles. With a cry of frustrated dismay, he toppled to the side, unable to stop his fall.
Fuck, I’m so completely useless.
Expecting the impact with the floor, he closed his eyes and completely relaxed his body…And landed against something warm, soft, and sweet-scented.
“I’ve got you, Mr. MacGregor. You seem to be having a little trouble. Are you certain nothing other than your leg is broken?”
Drake wanted to answer, but the scent of her body so near to his nose and the blood under the silken skin of her throat destroyed his coherency. He wrapped his arms around her, throwing his weight against her chest, and nestled his nose at the base of her throat. Before his mind could stop his hunger, he’d driven his canines into her neck and filled his mouth with her sumptuous blood.
Two things registered to his hunger-fogged brain. The first was the unbelievable richness of her blood, richer than any blood he’d ever tasted. It filled his mouth like the legendary elixir of life and warmed his body from the inside out.
The second thing was a terrible snarl echoing through the room just before Dr. Cantora flung him bodily over the medical bench to crash into the metal shelves filled with lead aprons.
Drake opened his eyes to stare up at the woman towering over him, her eyes blazing with iridescent green fire as she held her neck with one taloned hand.
“What in the name of all that’th holy do you think you’re doing?”

Six Sentence Sunday - The Bone Flute - Boxed In

Happy Six Sentence Sunday! I hope your weekend is going well.

Rain's sexy intruder has some strange claims and even stranger explanations of his origin.

He raised his ringless hands up in a placating gesture and said, “Becalm yourself, my lady. I’m not here to hurt you; you brought me here, I didn’t follow you.”
“What the hell are you talking about?”
Keeping his hands where she could see them, he moved to the side and pointed at the long box on the table. She followed his motions, glancing quickly at the box, then back to him.
“I’m bound to the Bone Flute, my lady, and where it goes, I must also go."

That gives a whole new meaning to man in a box. ;) There are several great authors on the Six Sentence Sunday list and a few of my favorites are Karla DoyleSarah BallanceSilver JamesLaura Kaye, Cara Michaels, and Goran Zidar. Thank you for stopping by and happy reading! :)
