Six Sentence Sunday - Queen Bitch of the Callowwood Pack - New Life

Welcome, Sixers! Thank you so much for visiting the Weird, the Wild, & the Wicked. I'm grateful for your visit and your comments. I realize there are a lot of good authors on the Six Sentence Sunday list and I appreciate that you've taken the time to visit my blog.

Today I'm offering a snippet of my newest release, Queen Bitch of the Callowwood Pack, available now from Siren Publishing. The heroine Julianna Morris found herself on her front porch, scratched, bruised, and her hair full of twigs. She can't remember the last few days and spends the whole day trying to figure out what happened. In this snippet, she just woke up from a 'dream'.

Julianna held her breath, trying to figure out what she’d seen. A clear vision of hunting a lone raccoon surfaced, complete with the scents of blood and fear. She recalled the taste of the raccoon’s fury and desperation, and the texture of its fur along her tongue as it fought the grip of her jaws. Then she remembered the sweetness of its flesh as she fed from its warm belly.
Panic and dread swelled with her revulsion.
“Oh my God,” she whispered, horrified, “I’m a monster!”

Well that might put a damper on your day. Thanks so much for stopping by. There are several authors I like to read on the Six Sentence Sunday list and a few of them are: Dianne Hartsock, Zee Monodee, Cara Bristol, Goran Zidar, and Gem Sivad. Happy reading. :)

  1. Not a monster exactly. But it would be a tad disconcerting to remember eating a raccoon's belly. Great description here. I'm hooked.

  17. Eewww... a raccoon. That's the real reason right there that people don't have a romatic ideal of a werewolf :-)

Lovely description though, particularly the "scents of blood and fear" part.
