Recipe for Romance - Spice it Up by Sage Marlowe

Good morning! Welcome to the Weird, the Wild, & the Wicked. Today my good friend and erotic romance author Sage Marlowe has taken over Recipe for Romance to give you ideas of how to make your own love life a little more romantic. Just in time for Saturday night, yes?

A lot of romance books focus on the beginning of a relationship, or rather, the path that leads two (or more) people to finding their significant others, the people they want to spend the next stage of their lives with. In that exciting phase, romance comes fairly easily: everything is new and exciting, and the simple suggestion to stay in on a rainy afternoon and snuggle up on the sofa in front of the TV qualifies as a big romantic gesture.

But what happens next? Reality replaces romance, jobs and bills become more important than kissing and touching. If you have children, you’ll be discussing education rather than excitement and before you know it, the only reason for you to really, really want to go to bed right now is to—sleep. If you nodded just now, then face it, everyday life has made romance (and quite possibly your sex-life) a bit bland.

Here’s the good news: It doesn’t have to be that way. You don’t need to do much to spice up your romance, just use your imagination—or, if you’re too tired to be creative, you can borrow my Recipe for Romance. This recipe can be used for both purely romantic and erotic purposes.

RECIPE FOR ROMANCE
A child-free setting and some time
Your partner(s)
A romance novel / novella of your choice (preferably one you’ve read as that will shorten preparation time considerably and allow you to choose the appropriate setting)
Any additional ingredients mentioned in the book / scene of your choice (For instance, my men have used pretty much anything from each other’s bodies to chocolate mousse to handcuffs and unusual toys)
Choose a favorite scene / setting from the book.

If additional ingredients / tools are required, use or apply them as suggested in the story but do feel free to add your own alterations any time you feel like it. If you find it difficult to get in the mood, you might want to start out with some role play and act out the scene.

This recipe can be served as spicy as you like it. Preparation time and heat level depend on the book you choose. Recommendations for spicy scenes and ingredients can be found in all of Sage’s books, but if you like showers and chocolate mousse with your romance, you will find some suggestions in:

FANTASY FOR SALE
What's the price of reality when a fantasy is for sale?

Cam is young, sinfully sexy and willing to play without limits, a combination which makes him a fantasy turned to flesh for men and women alike - and he's for sale.

Nate is curious when it comes to carnal delights but hasn't found the right man to explore his desires with.

When a friend buys Nate a few hours of pleasure with Cam, it's not much of a surprise that Nate ends up intrigued. He keeps coming back for more and the attraction between them appears to be mutual but while Nate finds himself falling for the sexy hooker, Cam makes no secret of the fact that for him, sex is just a job.

Determined to win him over, Nathan tries to show him that sex is about more than physical satisfaction but Cam's walls seem impenetrable until a dramatic event forces him to reveal some of his secrets and Nate begins to understand that Cam pays more than just the price for the reality behind the fantasy.

Mix and serve immediately. Feeds the souls of two or more. :)

EXCERPT of Fantasy for Sale (NSFW)

“You know what?” she told Cam slowly, tauntingly. “How about you stay a little longer and take care of Nathan?” Cam raised an eyebrow but didn’t answer.

I didn’t possess such control. “Cyn, no!” I cut in. “Seriously, I—”

“Shut up, Nate! It’s my treat.” She hadn’t taken her eyes off Cam. “Would you, hon? I feel kind of bad, you know? I had so much fun last night and the poor darling hasn’t got laid in weeks. Would you make him happy for me?”

Cam did another of those looking-from-one-to-the-other-and-back routines, then he shrugged and smiled. “Sure. What do you want me to do?”

“Anything he wants.” She fumbled briefly in her purse and slipped a bundle of notes into Cam’s hand. “That should cover it.” Winking at me, she turned to leave but stopped at the door. “Oh, and Cam? Make him scream.” Vixen grin firmly in place, she spun around and left us alone. Me. Him. Alone. Me alone with him.

I developed a very serious interest in the layout of the bathroom tiles. Had that light grey pattern really been in them all along? And why had no one realised that the pattern on one of them was facing the wrong way and… I became aware of Cam coming closer, but I just couldn’t make myself look up from the floor. Cam chuckled softly and tucked a finger under my chin, gently forcing my face up to make me meet his eyes.

“You okay?” His voice was low and intimate, teasing my ears just like the sight of his smiling mouth teased my libido.

“Yeah, I just, uh, I guess I’m just more than a bit surprised.” I gave a shaky laugh. “Trust Cynthia to come up with stupid ideas.”

“I don’t think it’s a stupid idea.” Cam sounded perfectly calm, which only served to make me even more nervous. I shuddered under his inquisitive look.

“But…you just spent the night with her and now you…you would…with me. And she… Oh, fuck,” I groaned. “This is weird.”

Cam’s gaze locked with mine. “There’s nothing weird about it, Nathan. It’s only sex, no strings attached. She wants you to enjoy it, so don’t spoil it by thinking too much.”

“But I-I’ve never…” I stammered, helpless under Cam’s stare and increasingly incoherent.

“There’s a first time for everything,” Cam rasped, leaning in a little closer. “Don’t think. Feel.”

He lowered his head and brushed his lips over my mouth in a first tender touch. Thoughts ran havoc in my mind, not all of them logical. He was a whore. Whores didn’t kiss—did they? This one definitely did. He hesitated for a few heartbeats then came back for more, the caress longer and more intense this time. I moaned as his wet tongue parted my lips ever so gently and the pressure of his mouth against mine increased. What was I doing? I couldn’t…shouldn’t… But why did it feel so natural to open up to Cam, and why did I have this need to lean into him when he put his arms around me and pulled me close?

He was half-naked, and his skin was still moist from the shower. He smelled so fucking good, clean, just a bit musky and the feel of his solid body where it touched mine made my nerve endings tingle with pleasure. Our kiss, his kiss, deepened, a slow, tentative tangling of tongues, as he licked and explored my mouth. He was in control and I liked it. I liked how he played and rambled like an eager puppy and yet unerringly discovered all the caresses I enjoyed. Cam was a good kisser and his height forced me to tilt my head up, causing an unfamiliar angle that only added to my growing arousal. And he wasn’t left unaffected either. He pushed his groin against mine, pressed the hard ridge there to my own throbbing erection. I thought the friction alone would bring me off, but then he started nibbling and licking from my ear, along my neck to my collarbone and I was busy shuddering and jolting under his talented tongue.

Recipe for Romance - Getting Out and Away

Good morning! Welcome to the Weird, the Wild, & the Wicked. I write a bi-monthly spot (first and third Saturdays of the month) called Recipe for Romance to give you ideas of how to make your own love life a little more romantic. Just in time for Saturday night, yes?

The end of summer has arrived as evidenced by Back-to-School sales and the children being missing for large chunks of the day. The trees are starting to turn colors in my neck of the woods and coats are needed for the morning walk to school. This is my favorite time of year, fall, and the scents are heavenly, especially when the sun comes out. But that doesn't mean the warm weather is done yet, and you still have one more weekend of enjoying the great outdoors before snow, sleet, or rain sets in for the duration. Camping, whether in a camper (caravan for those outside the US) or in a tent, can be very romantic if you're outdoorsy (It can also be a disaster and make a funny story later - ask me if you want to know mine).

RECIPE FOR ROMANCE
Tent
Sleeping bags and sleeping pads
One (or more) loved-one
Any local campground
Camp stove and cooking gear
Warm clothes for cool nights
Comfort foods for meals (optional)
Firewood (optional)
Wine and chocolate (optional)

Assemble the ingredients, set up your camp, and relax. There's something therapeutic about cuddling with a lover while the birds call and the deer prowl the edges of your camp. The only sounds are your lover's breath and the wind in the trees. If you're lucky enough to camp near a river or creek, you'll have the water chuckling at you as it chortles along its bed. This is a good time to turn off your phone and reconnect with the one who turns your fire on with hot looks and gentle touches. And building a real fire to sit beside is romantic. Plus everyone knows the relaxation generated by the fire trance while snuggling with a lover. As always, clothing is optional, but be mindful of the outside temperature.

Alterations to Recipe:
For those who don't easily sleep on the ground, or have a deep aversion to crawly things that live outside, you can substitute with a Bed&Breakfast or rental cottage resort. This will also facilitate bringing the kids who will get the opportunity to be outside and still stay relatively clean and dry (hey, I'm looking out for you parents). You can still have a fire and go for walks in nature, and gaze at the stars when the sun goes down. Take the time to reconnect with your loved ones and find a nexus with some of the cool things you don't see in town, like coyotes howling at the moon and eagles soaring against the late summer skies.

Mix and serve immediately. Feeds the souls of two or more. :)

What are your favorite places to camp and your funniest story? Aspiring cooks want to know! :)

**What's a Recipe for Romance? I've heard a lot of women (in particular) read romance to find a little excitement and romance in their lives when maybe their current relationships aren't nearly as romantic. Wouldn't you love to have someone set out some romantic moments for you to celebrate your love? Don't wait for someone else to do it. You can try it yourself, for yourself, or for your loved one, and you can use things you have around the house or are easy to get at the local stores. Remember, it doesn't have to be expensive or extravagant to be romantic.

Recipe for Romance - Breakfast in Bed

Good morning! Welcome to the Weird, the Wild, & the Wicked. I write a bi-monthly spot (first and third Saturdays of the month) called Recipe for Romance to give you ideas of how to make your own love life a little more romantic. Just in time for Saturday night, yes?

One of the things that happens a lot in my house is I'm usually the first one up. Sleeping in and relaxing isn't something I get to do very often because I have little people who think they have to eat as soon as the sun crests the horizon. There are some mornings I'd like someone else to get up and feed the cat, the kids, and whoever else is hanging around. Better yet, it would be wonderful to have someone deliver breakfast in bed with all the trimmings, including a rose or tulip to brighten the meal. Think of just hanging out in bed with a hot cup of coffee, a good meal, and a comfy back support. Only thing needed is your lover. ;)

RECIPE FOR ROMANCE
Comfortable bed
One (or more) loved-one
Morning (your own definition applies)
Tray
Beverages (coffee, tea, juice)
Favorite flower variety
Delicious meal (variations may apply)
Clothing (optional)

Assemble the ingredients and bring to your lover (or convince them to bring it to you). If you're serving, make a meal you know your loved one(s) will enjoy and provides relaxation. Find your lover's favorite treats and assemble them on a tray to deliver to them as they wake up. And if you're adventurous, offer to feed them with your own hands. It's reminiscent of being cared for in ways not the usual. Love and connection works in subtle as well as obvious ways and making someone a meal is an easy way to show it. As always, clothing is optional.

Alterations to Recipe:
For those who have small people who often demand food first, ask them to help you to prepare the tray and goodies for your lover(s). Little people love to do fun surprises for their parents (usually) and giving them a goal helps with the enjoyment. This not only strengthens your relationship with your lover(s), but also the connection you have with the little people in your family. Connection is important for every relationship and engenders more love.

Mix and serve immediately. Feeds the souls of two or more. :)

What are your favorite breakfast recipes for your lover? Aspiring cooks want to know! :)

Recipe for Romance - Get Back In Touch

Good morning! Welcome to the Weird, the Wild, & the Wicked. I write a bi-monthly spot (first and third Saturdays of the month) called Recipe for Romance to give you ideas of how to make your own love life a little more romantic. Just in time for Saturday night, yes?

Being a writer, I tend to spend long hours alone in my head with my imaginary friends (who always seem to need something). It can be exhausting and stressful (when I have a deadline), and sometimes lonely. Humans are one species that tend to be tactile (touchy-feely) and physical human contact is very important for maintaining romantic relationships. If you like to be touched, there's something relaxing and romantic to have your lover(s)'s hands on your body. Even a touch as small as the back of the fingers against your arm can have therapeutic effects.

RECIPE FOR ROMANCE
Comfortable place to sit or recline
One (or more) loved-one
Any time you can become completely relaxed
Warm room to relax muscles
Soft towel or sheets
Massage oils (optional)
Clothing (optional)
Tools such as feather, brushes, ribbons (optional)

Assemble the ingredients and relax. Touching is one of the easiest and best ways to reconnect with your lover. And it doesn't have to be hard, rough, or deep touch. Some of the most relaxing and beneficial touching is light brushes against the skin with your fingers or a tool, like a feather, brush, or ribbon. Lying against your lover and trailing your fingers over her/his skin is an easy way to reconnect and renew your love. Gentle massage to loosen some of the muscles is wonderful, too. There are several books on sensual massage out there with suggestions and directions on how to touch your lover. As always, clothing is optional.

Alterations to Recipe:
For those who don't have easily corresponding schedules, or have extreme parenting, you can substitute with a smaller massage on individual body parts. You can massage your lover's hands, feet, or shoulders while watching TV or monitoring a sporting or liberal arts event. Even a little touch allows you to reconnect with your lover(s) and keeps them aware of your interest and attention. Rub their shoulders, massage their palms and fingers, or trail your fingers over their forearms. Every touch reminds them of your interest and love, and can release endorphins to relax them and you.

Mix and serve immediately. Feeds the souls of two or more. :)

Recipe for Romance: Spring has Sprung so Walk the Talk

Good morning! Welcome to the Weird, the Wild, & the Wicked. I was thinking about a new blog sequence and decided I'd write a bi-monthly spot (first and second Saturdays of the month) called Recipe for Romance. Just in time for Saturday night, yes?

What's a Recipe for Romance? Good question. I've heard a lot of women (in particular) read romance to find a little excitement and romance in their lives when maybe their current relationships aren't nearly as romantic. Wouldn't you love to have someone set out some romantic moments for you to celebrate your love? I would. So why wait for someone else to do it? You can try it yourself, for yourself, or for your loved one, and you can use things you have around the house or are easy to get at the local stores. It doesn't have to be expensive or extravagant to be romantic.

Spring has sprung, at least it has here in Las Vegas, and that means it's time for flowers and sunshine and being outside before the desert summer heat hits. Right now the sun goes down about 8:00 pm our time and it's the perfect time to go for a walk with your lover. Turn off the cell phones, throw the dog on the leash, and take a walk around the block with your loved one to admire the flowers.

RECIPE FOR ROMANCE
Two feet
One (or more) loved-one
Dusk or Sunset
Neighborhood or Park
Dog with leash (optional)

Assemble the ingredients and head out the door. The great thing about a simple walk with your lover is you have a chance to reconnect without all the social distractions that help distance you. You can unwind, talk about the day, enjoy some lovely scenery, and remember all the times when you used to share sunsets before life got busy. You can reconnect with your sexy partner(s) and share some quality quiet time with each other you don't get during the busy days.

Alterations to Recipe for Parents of young children:
For those who can't walk away from your kids sleeping upstairs because of age restrictions, you may substitute sitting out on the back deck, patio, balcony, or porch with a bottle of your favorite cool drink, and watch the sunset. Again, unwinding is so important for romance, and reconnecting with those you're most intimate with. It solidifies your relationship and brings you back to the beginning when your love was newer.

Mix and serve immediately. Feeds the souls of two or more. :)

So what kinds of spring recipes for romance do you cook up in your love life? Aspiring cooks want to know! :)
