5 Questions of a Historical and Erotic Romance Author: A.S. Fenichel

Welcome back to the Weird, the Wild, and the Wicked. Today I have the honor of hosting historical romance author A.S. Fenichel with her newest release, Wishing Game! I met A.S. on Six Sentence Sunday when she shared her snippets of her Mayan Destiny series. She had me hooked with her storytelling and hints of magic. I’m absolutely delighted to have her here on my blog.

Welcome, A.S. Thank you so much for being with me today.

A.S. : I’m delighted to be here, Siobhan. You were so wonderful to ask me.

What started you on the path to becoming a romance author and what did you do before that?

A.S.: My mother always said I was Pollyanna. I always believed everything would be all right as a child. I still do. I guess my way of insuring the Pollyanna attitude can continue, is to write books that must end in a “happily ever after”. For me, if the story doesn’t end in an HEA then it’s not over yet.

Though I was only published in 2011, I’ve been writing for about twenty years. So before I was published I had a day job. I worked in Customer Service and Logistics for years and then finished off my business career as an IT specialist for the SAP ERP software program.

Congratulations on your release of Wishing Game. Introduce us to the main characters and premise of your story.

A.S. : Thank you. I’m really excited about Wishing Game. This is my second published Regency historical romance.

Lady Mary Barrow is about to lose everything when her ailing father dies unless she marries before that sad day. Mary gives the impression of a really practical young lady, but she continues to refuse offers of marriage. She makes a wish for a solution to her problems.

Avery is a distant cousin who is the next in line to inherit. He is wealthy in his own right and riddled with guilt for his part in Mary’s ruination. Having been contacted by the old earl and a solicitor, he comes to the estate in hopes of being of service.

Did something in particular inspire this story?

A.S. : Ellora’s Cave had a Regency book call for submissions. I love the idea of two people living within circumstances that should rip them apart and feed into a mutual hatred. Then you thrust them together and see what happens.

Wishing Game is a Blush romance from Ellora’s Cave, a departure from most of your other books. Why did you choose to write this sweeter romance?

A.S. : As I said, EC “called” for sweet historical. I wrote Christmas Bliss for the 2012 Christmas season and I loved writing that sweet book with all the rules and customs of the Regency ton. I do love writing erotic romance as well, but there’s something about the innocence of a cotillion story that I will always go back to. It’s a nice departure and a challenge to create a warm and engaging romantic story without the use of sex or graphic language.

What other projects are on the horizon for you that we’re likely to see?

A.S. : I hope you’ll see them all. ;) I just finished the second book of a series that began with Kane’s Bounty. It’s a paranormal erotic romance about psychics in law enforcement. I’m pretty sure the series will be called “Psychic Mates”. Joshua’s Mistake is book two and will come out this spring. I’m under contract with Ellora’s Cave to write two more for that series and I’m nearly finished with book three, Training Rain. I hope it will hit the virtual book shelves in the late summer 2014.

I have more going on that I can’t really talk about yet. I can say, I just agreed to write a big paranormal historical romance series. I expect to see the first book available summer 2014. As soon as all the i’s are dotted and t’s crossed, I will be shouting it from the highest mountaintops.

Thank you for joining me today, A.S., and we look forward to all your upcoming releases!

A.S. : It’s been my pleasure to join you, Siobhan. Thank you very much.

It would be easier to hate Avery Townsend, if he weren’t so damned nice. And why did he have to have those arresting, amber eyes? They reminded her of a painting she’d seen of a lion. She couldn’t tell if he was about to devour her or cuddle her as if she was one of the barn cats.

Why was he encouraging her to marry? If she had a husband, he would have no inheritance. “My cousin would marry me if I wished it. He and I are very close, more like brother and sister.”

He made a sour face. “I suppose it is not a very appealing prospect to marry a man you think of as a brother.”

“No. However, if I were smart I would do it anyway.”

He frowned. Could it be he really was worried he would lose the lands and house? The tea arrived and she did not ask the incredibly forward question. Once the maid had left the parlor, Mary poured the tea.

“You could stay here, cousin.”

Her heart thumped wildly. “What, in this house, after my father is gone and you are the owner?”

He did not look up from his cup. “Yes.”

“As what, exactly, Mr. Townsend?”

His strange eyes lifted and his gaze settled on hers. She had no idea what the man was thinking. “Exactly as you are now, if you choose. I shall not put you out of your home.”

“And where will you be, cousin?” She used the familiarity he requested but bit out the word so there was no doubt of her distaste.

He stood up and moved toward the window. The rain continued to pour down. “I shall not trouble you much more than to stop and check the accounts from time to time.”
Her entire body grew hot with rage. Her voice rose in both volume and pitch. “Am I to be your mistress? Do you think me so desperate?”

His neck grew red. When he spoke there was no doubt, she had angered him. “You misunderstand me, madam.”

She stood up and carefully placed her tea on the table. “Do I? How will it be proper in any way for me to live in this house after you take possession? It’s already scandalous that you are here before my aunt arrives.”

“It is your house.” His voice rose over hers.

She took a step forward, refusing to be intimidated by any man. “No, sir. That is where you are wrong. When my father dies, you have the happy luck to be the heir to Heartshorn. If I stayed, the neighborhood would be aghast.” She took a deep breath. “I hope you will keep the staff on. I would hate to see them out of work after serving the Earl of Westbridge most of their lives.”

He crossed to her and stood towering over her with only inches separating them. His eyes flashed with danger, but she held her ground. Her heart raced and fear rushed to every nerve. Had she gone too far? She must learn to control her temper and stay her wicked mouth.

She thought he might strike her, but his hand came up and touched her cheek with a gentleness she wouldn’t have equated with the man or the situation. She watched his Adam’s apple bounce several times. His mouth opened and closed and his eyes flicked from her mouth to her eyes.

Mary could not have moved if the roof had caved in on her. She was in a trance.

He closed his eyes for a brief moment and when they opened, she could see his temper was quelled. “Forgive me, cousin.”

Thanks for stopping by and happy reading.

5 Questions of a Historical Erotic Romance Author, Kate Pearce, and a #Giveaway

Welcome back to the Weird, the Wild, and the Wicked and Happy New Year 2014! Today I have the honor of hosting historical erotic romance author Kate Pearce with her newest release, The Sinners Club! I’ve known Kate since I happened to pick up her sci-fi erotic romance Planet Mail in a used bookstore. She had me hooked and I branched out to her Madame Helene’s Pleasure House series. I’m absolutely delighted to have her here on my blog.

Welcome, Kate. Thank you so much for being with me today.

Nice to be here!

What started you on the path to becoming an erotic romance author and what did you do before that?

I had a brief career in finance and then became a full-time mother to three boys. When we relocated to the USA I had the opportunity to do something I’d always wanted to do-write a book. At first I thought I wanted to write historical fiction, but I sucked at it. Then I read some romance novels and realized I’d found my people! I came very close to being published several times with the historical romances I was writing, but it was very frustrating.

One day, I sat down and wrote something so filthy and dirty that I hid it because I’d scared myself. LOL. That turned into Eden’s Pleasure, which was 27K words, and erotic Regency in first person. All no no’s for traditional publishing, Luckily Ellora’s Cave was publishing just that kind of thing, and snapped it up in 2005. I realized I had a talent for writing the very steamy and erotic and I never looked back.

Congratulations on your release of The Sinners Club. Introduce us to the main characters and premise of your story.

The Sinners Cub is a spin off of the House of Pleasure series, which was getting way too bogged down in itself for my liking and felt too complicated to keep writing. I wanted to write something in the same time period, which had a slightly different feel to it. With this in mind, as I attempted to close out the House of Pleasure series, I was simultaneously trying to introduce some new characters who would take on the new series. It was like spinning twenty plates at once, and I wouldn’t recommend it, LOL.

So the Sinners starts with Jack Lennox, who is Violet Lennox’s twin, investigating his potential inheritance. Once I’d set that up, I was able to focus on writing a good bawdy tale with plenty of sex and mystery entwined. The Sinners Club is a place where ex-spies and those who have served their country in an undercover capacity can meet and receive protection. It’s an interesting mix of men and women of all classes and political persuasions.

Book two, Tempting a Sinner is already finished and stars the elusive Benedict Lord Keyes. I haven’t started writing book three yet, but I do know who the hero will be. J

Throughout your novels, you’ve often written very strong heroines, women who don’t need men to help them despite the social mores of the time. Where did your inspiration for Mary Lennox come from?

Mary Lennox is another survivor in the same mold as Helene from the House of Pleasure. She’s done everything necessary to survive and isn’t ashamed of what she’s done-until she meets Jack Lennox and things start to unravel.

How has living in the US expanded on your view of history?

Well, it’s been interesting seeing the other side of the story when my kids bring history books home. I tend to find myself saying, "Actually, it wasn’t quite like that” and giving them the Brit version of the story, which they really don’t want to know. LOL

What other projects are on the horizon for you that we’re likely to see?

I’m writing book three of the Sinners, which will be fun. I’m also going to be publishing some novellas with eKensington, which are about Val and Peter from Simply Sexual and Sinful. I described them to my editor as Regency-angst filled New Adult, but they definitely aren’t for teens. LOL They are prequels dealing with Val and Peter’s return to England from years in a Turkish brothel at the age of eighteen. They examine some of the sources of conflict that emerge in the Simply books. I loved writing them.

I’m also self-publishing a few things such as more classic Regency historicals and erotic Science Fiction romance which I write purely for my own enjoyment.

I’m also writing mysteries as Catherine Lloyd, which are cozy Regencies set in a small English village. Death Comes to the Village came out in November 2013 and the second will come out in November 2014.

Thank you for joining me today, Kate, and we look forward to all your upcoming releases!

Thank you!

EXCERPT from The Sinner's Club:

The Sinners Club @Kate Pearce 2013
Jack took off his hat and advanced toward the diminutive lady who reclined on the couch. She gave a little cry of distress and struggled to rise. It was Jack who reached her first and tenderly assisted her to sit up. He found himself looking into a pair of big brown eyes filled with a hint of wide-eyed terror and a suggestion of tears. Her face was heart shaped and framed with artfully arranged golden curls.
“Oh my, have you come to throw me from my house in my condition?”
Jack forced his gaze from the beauty of her face, down over her fabulous bosom and finally to the swell of her belly clearly outlined against the black silk of her high waisted gown.
“Ma’am?”
She clasped his hand in hers. “It’s true, isn’t it?”
Jack carefully disengaged himself from her frantic grasp and stepped back. “I have no idea whom I’m addressing, ma’am. Perhaps I should start by making myself known to you. I’m--”
“We know who you are.” The male sibling interrupted Jack and came to stand by his sister’s side. ”You’re an imposter.”
Jack fought down an absurd desire to laugh. “I assure you, I am not. My name is John Smith.”
“Then you are not the scoundrel who claims to be the new earl?” the woman whispered.
He bowed. “Didn’t Mr. Ferrers tell you? I am the private secretary of the man who expects to be the next earl. May I respectfully inquire who you are?”
The lady glanced at her brother and exhaled. “Oh love, it’s not as bad as we feared at all! I’m sure Mr. Smith is a reasonable man, and will soon understand why his employer is mistaken in his beliefs.” She smiled brilliantly up at Jack. “Your employer cannot possibly be the new earl.” Her hand curved over her belly.
“I’m not sure I understand, ma’am.”
“I am the current, or should I say, dowager, Countess of Storr, and my child is not yet born.” She raised her chin. “Your master cannot possibly claim the title until my child is delivered. And if it is a boy, as I believe it will be, then the title will never be your employers.”
Jack abruptly sat down.
You are the Countess?”
“The Dowager Countess.” She opened her eyes wide at him. “Obviously.”
“The Lennox family solicitors made no mention of the last earl being married.”
She bit her luscious lower lip. “I suspect that was Jasper’s little joke. He was known to be rather secretive about such things.” She reached out a hand to the auburn-haired man standing beside her. “My brother Simon, has been a rock in this time of trial. I am so lucky to have him.”
Simon’s face softened as he looked down at his sister. Jack took stock of the tall redheaded man and the petite blonde woman. They didn’t look at all alike, but there was an obvious bond of affection between them. And why was he worrying about that when there were other more important things to concern him? Like the fate of his inheritance? He hardened his resolve. He’d be damned if he’d let it slip away again.

Thanks for stopping by and good luck in the giveaway! :)

5 Questions of a Paranormal and Romantic Suspense Author: Silver James

Welcome back to the Weird, the Wild, and the Wicked. Today I have the honor of hosting paranormal romantic suspense author Silver James (who’s one of my all time favorites, btw) with a new release, Christmas Moon. I finally met Silver at Hot Mojave Knights 2013 and she is even cooler in person than she is online. Hoorah! She is also graciously offering an excerpt to everyone, and a copy of her ebook to one lucky commenter.

Welcome, Silver. Thank you for being with me today. *Squeee!* Okay, fangirl moment done. :D

What started you on the path to becoming a paranormal romance author after being a first responder?

What’s that old adage? Write what you know? I was a writer long before I became a first responder and I’ve been a fan of paranormal romance since I first discovered the genre. It just made sense to combine the two and add in my experiences as an officer’s wife when my husband was in the army. As a result, all my main characters seem to be involved either in the military or public service in some form or another.

Congratulations on your recent release on Christmas Moon. Introduce us to the main characters and premise of your story for those who haven’t read the series.

This is tough to answer because all the wolves are in this story. I suppose Mac and Hannah, the hero and heroine of the first book in the series—BLOOD MOON—lead the way in CHRISTMAS MOON. The Wolves were part of a Special Operations unit in the army. Due to circumstances and on account of because, the unit was disbanded and subsequently brought back together. There’s a civilian corporation wanting to exploit their “unique” genetic structure and we all know no good will come of that! LOL Hannah was an army major sent on an assignment with the Wolves and during the course of it, she and Mac discovered they were mates. The premise for this particular story is that the Wolves are now outlaws, which is tough with wives and kids involved, it’s almost Christmas, and they owe a debt of honor to the family of a deceased comrade.

Did anything in particular inspire this story?

Actually, it was the fans of the series. Lots of readers were “poking” me about when the next book would be out and even though I was in the middle of launching a new urban fantasy series, I decided to write a Christmas story for them. I wasn’t sure what was going to happen for sure but when Liam (Mac and Hannah’s preteen son) reminded me that his first change was about to happen and he really wanted his dad to be there to help, the plot just fell into place.

I love your blending of werewolves and military. What are the Wolves’ origins and how did they get involved in the military?

According to their backstory, the Wolves have been around and serving in the military since the Declaration of Independence, basically. Several of them rode with Francis Marion, the Swamp Fox. Nakai, one of the Wolves in the first three books, was a Navajo Code Talker. In my werewolf mythos, the wolf DNA traces back to two roots—either Celtic or Indian (Native American). As a result, my wolves tend to be of Scot/Irish descent or like Michael Lightfoot and Jacob Nakai, Indian. These two “ancestry” groups tend to have a strong sense of military duty in real life. In the series, the military has always had a need for the type of missions they go on, though the true nature of their unique abilities is a state secret. Or was until Black Root Corporation got involved. Cue the dramatic music here…

Uh-oh...What other projects are on the horizon for you that we’re likely to see?

Where to start? LOL There’s at least one wolf who hasn’t met his mate yet so Antoine’s story is still to be told. Look for BLUE MOON next spring. I also plan on producing full novels that detail more of the backstory and some of the things that happen between each of the novellas. The first, MOONSTRUCK: SECRETS AND LIES will encompass the first three stories—BLOOD MOON, BAD MOON, and HUNTER’S MOON. The second, MOONSTRUCK: BETRAYAL, covers the next three books, WOLF MOON, BRIDE’S MOON, and ROGUE MOON. They’ll be available in digital and print formats next spring as well.

Additionally, I’ve launched my new urban fantasy series, The Penumbra Papers, with the prequel novella, THAT OL’ BLACK MAGIC, and the first book in the series, SEASON OF THE WITCH. I’m at work on the second book, THE DEVIL’S CUT and it will be available in 2014.

Thank you for joining me today, Silver, and we look forward to all your upcoming releases. Definitely!

EXCERPT of CHRISTMAS MOON:

Liam stood in the door of the RV, so angry his whole body vibrated. “We won’t have a Christmas? Mom, you promised!” He whirled and was gone before his parents could react.

“Aw, crap. I’m sorry.” Sean’s expression turned hang dog. “I didn’t realize he was standing there.”

By the time Mac got to the door, with Hannah close on his heels, Liam was already ducking into the woods at the edge of the campsite. Cody stood frozen in place, his eyes wide and scared, as he squeezed Micah’s hand to keep the little boy from crying. He turned to the adults.

“No Christmas?” His voice quivered as his bottom lip trembled.

Micah let out a wail, which brought his parents barreling through Hannah and Mac. Sean and Annie followed close behind.

“What the hell? What did you promise, Hannah?” Mac’s lips pressed into a tight line.

She scrubbed her hands through her hair. “He was worried about Christmas, Mac.”

“And?”

Hannah’s fingers curled against her palms as she fought down her temper. “And, while the holiday has tended to be a little loose for us because of our jobs, this year, he decided it was important.”

“So you promised him?” Exasperated, Mac turned away to hunt his son. He paused when Hannah’s hand grabbed his biceps.

“No. I promised him I would try. There is a difference, Mac.”

“Mommy, does that mean Santa won’t find us?” Cody stared up at Annie, his gaze darting between her and Sean.

Annie looked helpless and Sean wanted to kick himself for ever opening his mouth. “Charlie foxtrot,” he muttered. “It’ll be okay, little man.”

Liz cradled Micah in her arms and leaned against Michael. “I know you have to do this, but yeah, I sort of feel the same way.”

Picking up a rock, Hannah hurled it against the nearest tree. She muttered curse words, aware of big eyes watching her every move. After counting to a hundred, for the second time, she inhaled deeply, held her breath then exhaled in one long gust. Turning to face the crowd now gathered outside the RV, she slid into her role of commanding officer like a chameleon changing colors.

“It will be okay, Cody. Santa is full of magic and he knows where all the good little boys and girls are sleeping on Christmas Eve. At the rate Liam is going, he’s liable to get coal and switches in his stocking.”

Cody’s eyes widened so much Hannah could see the whites all the way around his pupils.

She closed her eyes briefly then opened them and tried again. “Santa will find us no matter where we are, Cody. And there will be a tree and presents and Christmas dinner.”

“You bet, Cody.” Jacey stepped over to side with Hannah. “I’ll make cinnamon rolls for breakfast and we’ll figure out turkey and dressing and all the trimmings.”

“Olives? I like olives.”

Annie rubbed her son’s shoulder. “Absolutely olives, Cody. The pitted kind and I won’t even fuss if you eat them off the tips of your fingers.”

Thank you for stopping by, good luck in the giveaway, and happy reading! :)

5 Question Interview of a New Adult Romance Author - Morgan Knight

Welcome back to the Weird, the Wild, and the Wicked. Today I have the honor of hosting new adult romance author Morgan Knight with her newest release, Walking Into Darkness. Morgan and I have known each other for a while and we share the love of the weird and off the wall. Morgan is graciously offering the chance to win a copy of her book and an Amazon gift card.

Welcome, Morgan. Thank you for being with me today.

Thank you for having me!

What started you on the path to writing new adult romance?

I’m not sure why I am drawn to the genre since, cough, I’m a couple years away from the sucky number 40. Maybe I yearn to stay young. Yeah, I bet that’s correct. I’ve tried to hold at 29 for years and it isn’t working! LOL. What I enjoy most about new adult is that I can sprinkle in life lessons I’ve learned. I hope they are subtle and somehow help younger readers. Or maybe it’s because I’m a mom and don’t want to see others make the same mistakes. Who knows? I will say that I am very young at heart and at times can’t believe I’m, cough, close to 40.

Congratulations on your release of Walking Into Darkness. Introduce us to the main characters and premise of your story.

The main character is Samantha Wright, a college graduate who has been unsuccessful at landing at job. Her life hasn’t been typical and all she yearns for is happiness and to be accepted the way she is. The premise of the story is her journey after moving back home and finding out disturbing information about her family, an ancient prophesy, and a twin sister named Sadie that may or may not be alive. During her quest to unravel the secrets, Samantha meets William, a hot priest to be. William wants to be her knight in shining armor and fights the desire to be more than just Samantha’s friend. As the two delve into the world of ancient prophesies, Samantha’s life is put in danger, and William’s oath to the church is as well. All in all, the story is one of finding love, even with the most unlikely of people. It is also about finding acceptance and happiness.

Did anything in particular inspire this story?

I think the biggest inspiration for this story comes from my own battles when I was younger. Mind you, I didn’t come from a family like Samantha’s, but I struggled to find my way, overcome the pain of the past, and all I ever yearned for was happiness. My road, much like Samantha’s, was full of potholes and detours. My life has been about self discovery and understanding that although flawed, I’ve overcome and found my rainbow. I hope the story is a reminder to readers that there are times when life looks bleak, and at times it seems to continually get worse, but we should push on, because we never know what life has in store for us.

That's a great wish. With your studies of myth and religion, did you discover anything surprising about yourself?

I’ve studied history and religions for years. I grew up very southern, attending services, and yet something has always been missing. My research was an attempt to understand religion better and how it came about. I wanted to understand why prayers aren’t answered, why some are destined to be left behind while others bloom and find happiness. I must say, for years I was a very miserable person. When I finally realized that my happiness depended on me and myself only, life got better. I am in control and I take responsibility. Not to offend anyone, but my research into ancient religions was a real eye-opener. I respect others and their beliefs, and hope others will respect my decision as well. My life and outlook changed the day I quit trying to please someone else. So to answer your question, in my research, I found out that I am Agnostic and it surprised the hell out of me. I can say with certainty, I’ve been a happier person since I accepted it.

I'm so glad you found something that fits well with you, Morgan. What other projects are on the horizon for you that we’re likely to see?

Coming up will be Sadie’s Story as the prophesy continues to be revealed and you will learn more about my Gothic dressed cutie.

That sounds great. Thank you for joining me today, Morgan, and we look forward to all your upcoming releases!

Morgan is graciously offering an e-copy of her book to one lucky commenter. She didn't have any specifics, but to be eligible to win, you must leave a comment and follow both mine and Morgan's blogs. EXCERPT

William gently shut the door as I kicked off my shoes. I felt him behind me and shuddered. He placed his hands on my shoulders and pressed against my back. Gentle kisses on my neck made me hum immediately. The heat from his body warmed me and I felt his hard length push into my back.
“I need you.” William whispered into my ear.
A rush of wetness built between my thighs. I allowed a soft sigh to escape when he squeezed both my breasts and flicked his thumbs over my nubs. Inside I was screaming for more. I reached around to grab hold of his hips, pulling him tighter to me. We began to move, rubbing our bodies together, taking as much pleasure as we could from just touching.
I’ve never wanted anything or anyone so much. My pulse increased and my breathing came in quick bursts. William lifted my shirt, taking it off. Without delay his hands were back on my skin. Everywhere his fingertips touched left my skin tingling. He turned me around and lowered his mouth to mine. Urgency flooded between us as our kiss became hungry. We moaned as our tongues slid together, lips pressing roughly together.
I needed to feel his skin on mine. My hands tugged his shirt from his jeans. I started to fumble with the buttons. My fingers trembled so hard I couldn’t even complete the simple task. Fuck it! I grabbed the shirt and yanked, sending buttons flying. Light pings sounded where they crashed to the floor. William growled, kissing me harder.
Our hands explored and teased. The passion between us had built up so much we couldn’t stand it any longer. He unbuttoned my jeans and shoved them down in one motion. I stepped out of one leg and got my foot hung in the other side and stumbled. God, I was a clumsy mess. William caught me and pushed me down on the soft bed. I gasped. I felt as though my heart would explode.
“Let me help you with those,” William stated in a voice so deep and thick with passion, my body hummed with delight.
He slowly pulled my jeans and panties off, dropping them to the floor. I was mesmerized by the sight of him. Tall, lean, and built to perfection. His plump lips curved into a sensual grin as he began to unbutton his jeans. I quivered and watched, almost demanding that he hurry up. The zipper eased down at a snail’s pace, and my stomach flip flopped with enthusiasm.
“Gorgeous.” I exhaled the word as he pushed his jeans and boxers down. Muscles rippled down his stomach, flexing, delighting my eyes. He was perfection, from his sexy tousled hair, deep chocolate eyes, and plump lips to his fit and toned body. I dare guess, but if a god designed William, I was grateful and in awe of him.
William’s erection popped out, and I couldn’t help but gasp loudly. Hot moisture continued to build at the apex of my legs. He held himself and lightly stroked his length as I watched. I wiggled my finger for him to come to me. I scooted back on the bed and he followed. He crawled forward slowly, with fierce eyes, a predator victorious with his prey in his sights. He was large and opposing compared to me. The soft light of the moon highlighted his beautiful features. Tan skin wrapped over his magnificent body. His wide chest beckoned me to touch. He offered a devilish grin as he lower his body over mine, trapping me under him.
He stared at me for a moment as if creating a memory. His sensual eyes flickered with enjoyment before he nipped my bottom lip, teasing me. I couldn’t take it anymore. I grabbed his neck and pulled his mouth against mine. We were almost there, finally naked, in a bed, alone. I wiggled with anticipation when our tongues delved deep, hungry and wanting. William’s hand began a tortuous glide from my collarbone down over my breast, easing further to my stomach that clenched tight. It had been so long since I had been touched so intimately, but nothing could hold a candle to this experience.

Thanks for stopping by and happy reading!

5 Questions of a Paranormal Erotic Romance Author, Susan Hayes, and #Giveaway

Welcome back to the Weird, the Wild, and the Wicked. Today I have the honor of hosting paranormal erotic romance author Susan Hayes with a new release through Siren Publishing, Eternal Bonds. Susan has jumped out of perfectly good airplanes on purpose and it’s that kind of adventure loving personality that has made her such a joy to connect with. Plus she’s from the Canadian west coast, which has a special place in my heart, so it makes her even more wonderful. Susan is graciously offering a giveaway and an excerpt of Eternal Bonds. This new story is a M/F/M ménage and if that’s not your cup of tea, please exit stage left now. ;)

Welcome, Susan. Thank you for being with me today.

Hi Siobhan, and thank you so much for having me as a guest!

I love to have you on my blog, Susan. So what started you on the path to becoming an erotic romance author?

The blame for that falls firmly at the feet of my best friend. She and I were online D&D players. (Yes, I’m one of those…I even have pink dice.) The games were heavy on diplomacy and story telling, and our little portion of the map always seemed to fill up with lovers and their stories. Eventually I got brave enough to try writing solo, and with a lot of encouragement from my best friend, I started submitting to publishers. That was seven books ago.

Wow! Seven books. Nicely done. Congratulations on your latest release on Eternal Bonds with Siren Publishing. Introduce us to the main characters and premise of your story.

Thank you!  Eternal Bonds is the story of Duncan, Jared and Tabitha. Duncan wants Tabitha but after a brutal betrayal, he’s  sworn to never bring another person into the dark life of a vampire. Jared is Duncan’s guardian and companion of more than seventy-five years, a human enhanced by years of feeding off of Duncan’s blood. Tabitha is human, struggling to make ends meet while fantasizing over the sexy doctor who only works the night shift. When an old enemy reappears, Tabitha becomes a pawn in a vicious game of revenge, forcing Duncan to break his vow in order to protect her.

Did anything in particular inspire this story?

I love vampire tales, and I’ve written several, but until now I’ve always cast the vamp as the villain. This time a fellow writer challenged me to make them the hero, and I swear Duncan was in my head whispering the next minute, telling me his story.

Vampires are well loved in the paranormal romance realm. What’s special about your vampires?

Unlike some vampires, Duncan isn’t removed from the world of humans, he’s actually taking part in it. He works as a doctor at a busy Chicago hospital helping people every day, as well as acting as their guardian, keeping other vampires and paranormal threats out of his territory.

What other projects are on the horizon for you that we’re likely to see?

I have a science fiction based ménage submitted to Siren Publishing right now, and if they accept then I hope to see that coming out late summer or early autumn. Right now I’m working on the next book in my Kismet Cove series, which is a ménage series about a colony of selkies living out on the Canadian west coast.

Oooh, Selkies. That sounds great. Thank you for joining me today, Susan, and we look forward to all your upcoming releases!

If you’d like a copy of Evernal Bonds, you can find it at:

The giveaway is open internationally and goes until 8 pm Thursday, July 4 2013 and the winner will be announced here on the blog on Friday.

EXCERPT

One minute they’d all been sitting around the table and the next minute Tabi found herself the filling in a man-sandwich straight out of her wildest fantasies. She dragged a hit of air into her lungs and caught the scent of both men as they surrounded her. Her breasts instantly tightened and her pussy tingled as she felt the hard, muscled bodies of both men press into her. Two hot, handsome bodies that had moved so fast they’d been a blur. That thought snapped her back to the present with a crash. “Let me go!”

“No, lass. Not until you’ve calmed down.”

“You’re telling me to calm down again? Didn’t you learn anything from the last time we had this conversation? You can’t just tell me to be calm every time the weird-shit-meter hits eleven!” She felt Jared’s chest vibrate with laughter and she turned her head to glower at him. “And you! Care to explain how you did that? No one moves that fast unless they’re from the planet Krypton!’ “Boss? I think we’re going to have to explain.”

“Indeed,” Duncan sighed. “Did you have to move like that? You scared her.”

“Me? You were the one who had her ready to bolt like a scalded cat!”

“Guys? Hello? She is standing right here and she’d really like some answers!” Tabi was getting tired of being talked about like she didn’t have ears. In an attempt to get some breathing room she worked a hand between herself and each of their chests intent on pushing them away, but the act of rubbing her way up their hard bodies started another line of thinking altogether. Her thoughts derailed into a pileup of hot fantasies and lust, and instead of pushing she simply left her fingers splayed across two solid walls of male muscle.

Both men pushed in closer, until she was caught between twin pillars of sex and heat that had her blood simmering and her brain mushy. Jared covered her hand with his so that it was held firmly just over his heart while Duncan turned her until his mouth could capture hers. This time his kiss was gentle, tender and intended to comfort, and Tabi was too overwhelmed by her desires to do anything else but tangle her fingers into Duncan’s shirt and pull him in closer as she answered his kiss in kind. Jared lifted his hand from her shoulder to sweep her hair back from her neck, dropping delicate kisses along the edge of the bandage.

“Mine,” Duncan growled in warning and tugged her harder against him, pulling her a half step away from Jared.

“No,” Jared growled back and moved in behind her, sandwiching her between them.

Duncan lifted his head and Tabi gasped as she saw his eyes. They were incandescent, glowing so brightly that it was as if there was a fire burning inside him.

This time Tabi did push away from him, straight back into Jared’s arms.

“What are you?” She managed to keep from screaming the question at Duncan, hanging onto her sanity by the barest of threads. What the hell had she just been kissing?

Jared wrapped his arms around her and stepped back from Duncan, taking Tabi with him. “Boss, you need to chill.”

Who were these two, the masters of understatement? “No, he needs to stop growling and glowing and tell me what the hell is going on! And both of you need to stop kissing me until I get some answers. My brain doesn’t work well when it’s drowning in hormones.” Oh god, she just said that out loud.

“Hormones?” Both men echoed her last word and Tabi nearly screamed with frustration. “Out of everything I said, you two focused on that word?” she snapped and tried pulling herself out of Jared’s embrace. She managed to twist slightly, but that was all. He was impossibly strong.
“This is going well,” Jared quipped in rueful tones.

“You’re not helping,” Duncan snarled, revealing a pair of long canines as he ran a hand through his hair, pulling it out of its customary tie. His eyes were only glowing a little now, but Tabi was too busy staring at his mouth and fighting Jared’s hold to really notice.

“You’ve got fangs? When did you get fangs?”

“Oh yeah, this is going fucking brilliantly.” Jared tightened his hold on Tabi and dropped his mouth to her ear. “It’s all right, honey. Neither of us is going to hurt you, but you’re going to hurt yourself if you keep struggling.”

Tabi stopped trying to get away and went still, finally accepting there was no point, not when Jared was so much stronger than she was. “Answers. I want answers right now or I’m going to start screaming.”

“Sure thing,” Jared drawled and loosened his hold on her slightly as he nuzzled her hair. “Duncan there is a three hundred year old vampire and I’ve been his guardian and companion for more than seventy-five years. You got your throat torn open by another vampire, and that’s why Duncan had to bring you back here.”

She’d heard enough, these men were insane.

Thanks for stopping by and happy reading! :)

5 Questions of a Contemporary Erotic Romance Author - Elyzabeth M. Valey

Welcome back to the Weird, the Wild, and the Wicked. Today I have the honor of hosting contemporary erotic romance author Elyzabeth M. Valey with a new release through Evernight Publishing, Welcome Aboard. I met Elyzabeth at Six Sentence Sunday and like me, she's been defined as weird for a long time now. She fits right in here. ;) Elyzabeth has graciously offered an excerpt of her new release. Remember this is erotic romance, so if that's not your thing, please exit stage right. :)

Welcome, Elyzabeth. Thank you for being with me today.

Thank you for having me, Siobhan! It’s great to be here.

What started you on the path to becoming an erotic romance author?

Santa. LOL. I’ll explain. When I started writing with the conscious decision to be published, I wrote sweet romance but I wasn’t getting any acceptance letters. One cold December night, an idea occurred to me and I decided to spice things up a bit. I was an avid erotic romance reader, so why not a writer? Thus, The Sweetest Christmas Candy came to existence and I walked the first steps down the erotic romance path as an author.

So you're on the naughty list, yes? Lol Congratulations on your recent release on Welcome Aboard with Evernight Publishing. Introduce us to the main characters and premise of your story.

Here is the blurb: Julie is on vacation! After months of breaking her back at the office she’s ready for a weekend of absolute relaxation: a little reading, good food and some lazing at the beach are her idea of a perfect plan. However, when a handsome man with a sexy smile and naughty accent takes the seat next to hers on the train she’ll enter a wicked ride of passion and delight that will blow her mind and body away.

The story centers around Julie, but there are also two very fine looking gentlemen that share her trip: William and Richard. The story is not a ménage, but I won’t say more.  You’ll have to read it to find out how they’re both involved with Julie and her naughty train ride. *laughs evilly*

Did anything in particular inspire this story?

I guess you could say my daily commute inspired the story. I spend around 2 hours a day on buses and subway trains to and back from work. My Kindle and my notebook are my faithful companions during those trips and during one of them they conspired with the Muse to come up with Welcome Aboard.

Your story has the travel-romance element in it. What attracted you to write that style of romance?

It was an unconscious decision, although once again I guess it’s all the long hours I spend on public transport what started it. Though it hasn’t happened to me, the possibility of meeting someone while on a trip is always there. I just took it a few steps further with Julie.

What other projects are on the horizon for you that we’re likely to see?

Well, I’m super excited because this Friday April 12th my paranormal –urban fantasy erotic romance, A Dragon’s Heart, A Demon’s Tale releases! And last week I signed a contract for an upcoming mm erotic romance titled Spanish Diversion.  Both stories will be published by Evernight Publishing so if you’re interested you’ll be able to snag a copy there or on any other major retailer.

Thank you for joining me today, Elyzabeth, and we look forward to all your upcoming releases!

Thank you for having me, Siobhan! It’s been a pleasure :-)

Excerpt:

“We’re on a train,” she hissed, gesticulating wildly.

William laughed, the lines on his forehead vanishing.

“I noticed.” He lifted the armrest and placed his hand on her thigh again. Julie bit back an unwanted moan.  “What you failed to have seen, my sweet, is that we’re the only ones in this particular wagon.” He smiled smugly, drumming her thighs in a rhythm that almost had her lifting her hips.

Julie huffed. Yes, her body was weak with desire but she wouldn’t back down so easily.

“It’s a public space.”

“And doesn’t that excite you?” William asked, grasping her flesh, his fingers digging into her skin pleasurably.

Julie’s thoughts scattered. This was crazy. Out right crazy. She wasn’t a one-night-stand kind of girl. Sex in public had been out of the question, and yet—

She observed William. He was impassive, waiting for her resolution while toying with her lust. She shook her head. They could get caught. There could be cameras on the train and it was illegal.

“It’s illegal!” she blurted as the tips of his exploring fingers brushed against her sex.

“So?”

Grasping a strand of her hair between thumb and forefinger, he caressed it before neatly placing it behind her ear, brushing his thumb over the shell.

“It’s only illegal if we get caught, my sweet. I have no intention of allowing that.”

“But--”

His brown eyes bore into hers, the desire swirling in them making her weak at the knees.
“You want to, Julie. I know you do.”

“How?” She cried out the question as he finally pried his way underneath her jeans, resting his fingers above her soaking panties.

“For one, you’ve been squirming in that chair, a lot.” He smiled at her obvious discomfort. “Then,” he murmured, rubbing his finger over her swollen nether lips. “You’re dripping wet. If I wanted to, if you wanted to, I could probably slide this finger inside you without any restraint whatsoever. Maybe even two.”

This was so wrong. His scorching eyes begged her to accept the challenge. Julie bit down on her lip. She couldn’t say yes, not here.

“Tell me you want to, Julie.”

William’s finger found its way under the elastic of her thong. A moan became lodged in her throat as he touched her, learning the wet contours of her cunt with a single digit.

 “I—"

She hesitated. Did she want to? Did she really want to do this crazy thing? The tip of his finger hovered over her entrance, daring her to accept.

“Say yes, Julie.” His gaze was heated, his breath as shallow as hers.

She wanted this. Damned be it all, she wanted William’s fingers deep inside her pussy. She wanted the dazzling pleasure, the relief to the unrelenting throbbing between her legs. The realization of what she was about to do spiked her desire and cut off her ability to speak. Opening her legs wider, she smiled shakily. William’s lips parted slightly, his gaze fierce as he pushed a finger inside her. Julie reclined against her seat. Her eyes fluttered shut and she whimpered as another thick digit joined the first. She responded to him. He was her master puppeteer and she was his puppet, rolling her hips with every thrust.

“You want more?” he murmured, his lips hovering over hers.

Julie opened her eyes. William regarded her, his long lashes framing deep eyes that she couldn’t help thinking belonged to a poet at heart.

“Yes,” she whispered, closing the distance. Soft and compliant, she mewled her approval, as she tasted him. Her fear had vanished and left behind an ardor that required urgent appeasing. William grunted into her mouth as she teased his bottom lip, nipping at the full bow with relish. Tilting his head to the side, he swept his tongue over the seams of her mouth in a request for entrance. She granted it readily, taking in his tongue with a desperate hunger that rivaled his as they tangled.

He was relentless, his fingers toying with her sex even as he kissed her. In and out, the thick digits of his left hand pumped into her slowly. It was a delicious torture that only succeeded in making her hotter and more desperate for what was to come.

Thank you so much for stopping by and happy reading! :)
