Week 138 of #ThursThreads had some terrific tales. I'm honored to see all of the returning writers and read your stories. Thank you for coming back again and again to write and for helping me celebrate these years of flash. Great thanks to Silver James for judging this week. Silver says: I love Thursday Threads! The talent here makes it really hard to pick winners. I truly enjoyed everyone's tale--so much variety and such nice twisty endings. I'd love to give everyone an Honorable Mention because it was REALLY close. But, winners there must be so...

Winners Announcement:

Honorable Mentions

Cara Michaels | @caramichaels
Silver says: Intriguing story and I love a woman who'd rather face Death than a fancy-dress party. I hope this is part of an on-going WIP because I want to read the whole thing!

Kelly Heinen | @Aightball
Silver says: First person present is a hard POV to carry off (and one I'm not all that fond of reading) but the author nailed it plus gave us a character driven story. Nice job!

Week 138 Winner

Silver says: I love a story that leads me one direction and then twists around to become a completely different tale. That's hard to accomplish in 250 words. Well done! Your ending got raised eyebrows and a "No $h*+!!!" And I'm giving you a thumbs up.

“Oh, yeah. Right there.” Audri undulated under Max’s body, giving every indication she was enjoying this as much as he thought she was.

He pinned her wrists above her head, his eyes burning as they stared into hers.”I knew you’d like that,” he whispered, a well-timed thrust prompting her to groan appreciatively.

Until she stopped, breaking his hold on her with a practiced turn and jerk of her wrists and rolling from under him. “Wait. Stop.” She blew out a breath and wiped the back of her hand over her forehead, noting how his gaze followed her motion before traveling down her body. She checked her hair, making sure the braid was intact—she hated to look disheveled. “I can’t… I mean, we can’t…”

“What?” Laughing, he rose fluidly to his feet. “Seriously, Audri? This isn’t your first rodeo.”

Tension thrummed under her skin, but she gave no sign. “No, you’re right, Max. It’s not.”

He trapped her focus, drawing near as his eyes narrowed. “Don’t tell me you don’t want this.” His one-handed grip was more than suggestive.

Lifting her chin, she drew her braid forward over her shoulder. “I don’t.”

“Well, stab me in the back, why don’t you?” He made a disgusted sound and turned from her, bending to grab his briefs.

Audri slid the wire-thin shiv from her hair and buried it just to the left of his spine. “You asked for it.”

Her debrief to her superiors didn’t mention the sex.

Congratulations Three Time Winner Sandi, Cara, and Kelly! Don't forget to claim your badges and display them with pride. You certainly earned it!
