In this snippet of The Order of the Dragon, after Drake's initial attack and Aliandra tossed his butt across the room for it, they both calm down enough for her to realize he hasn't fed in a while and she's the nearest donor. So she offers him her blood, but she wants to make sure he'll stop. The first line is from Aliandra.
“A mature sanguivore wouldn’t let himself get in this position of being so weak.”
Drake drew himself up to his full height, bringing them eye to eye with him seated, and his expression smoothed out into regal impassiveness. He looked like a king unimpressed with the pleas of his subjects, but she wasn’t the one begging.
He isn't begging, either.
“Now is not the time to sit on your high horse, Mr. MacGregor,” she remarked, oddly afraid he’d decline to feed from her. “I’ve taken the Hippocratic Oath and you’re in need of medical attention, even if it’s to prevent starvation.”Oooh, sounds like she likes gettin' bitten! ;) Thanks for stopping by and have a great week. Happy reading! :)
Hehehehe... great scene, and the ending made me chuckle. The good doctor wants it. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm loving this story. Great description of his "regal impassiveness" - I could see it very clearly.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely an interesting story. Unique.
ReplyDeleteLoved the "oddly afraid he'd decline to feed from her" bit -- says a lot about her in few words. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOh I liked this one and now I have to read it all LOL. Great job!
ReplyDeleteHe sounds wonderfully appealing. I am a sucker for the semi-arrogant ones. Well written!
ReplyDeleteSuch pigheadedness is very attractive in a man! Fun six.
ReplyDeleteGreat writing, and captivating story.
ReplyDeleteAll you guys who can create these worlds have my admiration. I write contemporary b/c I'm too lazy to write anything else, lol. Nice six!
ReplyDeleteinteresting characters. I liked the six
ReplyDeleteShe sounds like one tough cookie! Great six!
ReplyDeleteGreat characterization!
ReplyDeleteThese are strong characters! Great snippet!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE how she challenges him! Great six. ;c)
ReplyDeleteThere is so much to love about this six! Great characterization and I'm waiting to see how much she'll eventually have him begging for. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love that she's worried he may not partake. I wonder if his iciness if from sheer stubbornness to admit he got to close too the edge or if he knows he has a bit of leverage himself. Great six, Siobhan!
ReplyDeleteLooks like she likes Drake, too! (Even if she isn't willing to admit it to herself yet, LOL!) Great six!
ReplyDeleteGreat snippet!
ReplyDeleteNice indication of relative height.
ReplyDeleteI love this story and these two characters. I have to know what happens after he "partakes".
ReplyDeleteGreat six! I'm looking forward to reading more :)
ReplyDelete:D Sounds like it's going to be an interesting conversation.
ReplyDeleteShe should make him beg, hehehe. I love that she's afraid he'll decline her blood. Great six!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love her last line about the oath. A great setup for a great scene, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteA meeting of equals, that's for sure. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThat is a very caring doctor - taking blood transfusions all the way to personal. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm loving this story and can't wait to read more! It's a great scene that just keeps getting better. Both characters feel so real, which is strange, considering who (or what) they actually are.
ReplyDeleteAnd YOU are one of my favorites, too!!! :-)
Great chemistry between these two...intriguing paranormal factors too, such as how her dragon blood affects him. Interestingly I write this with a small bottle of "Sangre de Grado--dragon's blood (croton lechleri)" next to my keyboard. It's a kind of tree resin used in S. America as an antibiotic, and used in alternative veterinary medicine to brush cats' teeth.
ReplyDeleteEye level with her and he's only sitting? Wow - sounds like my kind of man (which isn't hard since I'm really so short, lol!) Anyhow, great six - you hold the tension really well here. Can't wait to see what he'll do next.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you so much for the mention! I posted mine in a rush this week before I left, so I didn't get a chance to link up my faves too (and you'd definitely have been in there! *grin*) XOXO
I'm so very impressed with this excerpt. And he sounds so tall and beautiful in his vulnerability... it made me wish I were a donor myself! Where can I take the Hippocratic oath?
